Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade An oversize Mickey Mouse balloon first made its appearance in the 1934 Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade in New York City, and Disney characters have been popular subjects ever since. Also in 1934, a small book was published as a promotion, Mickey Mouse and Minnie at Macy’s, followed the next year by Mickey and Minnie’s March to Macy’s.
