Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park Grand Opening, The (television) Two-hour television show; aired on April 30, 1989, the evening before the public opening of the park. Directed by Jeff Margolis. With Harry Anderson, George Burns, Walter Cronkite, John Forsythe, Estelle Getty, Kate Jackson, Rue McClanahan, Ann Miller, Yves Montand, Willie Nelson, Tony Randall, John Ritter, Mickey Rooney, and many others. There are even cameos by Jane Fonda, Jimmy Stewart, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, and Lech Walesa. The stars visit the various attractions at the park on the show that concludes with a spectacular “Hooray for Hollywood” production number.  The show won an Emmy Award for choreographer Walter Painter.
