Ellenshaw, Peter

Ellenshaw, Peter (1913-2007)  Selected by Walt Disney in England to paint the mattes for Treasure Island and the other Disney films made there in the early 1950s. He later came to the States to work on 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Darby O’Gill and the Little People, and other films. He painted one of the original layouts for Disneyland on a 4×8 foot storyboard, which is on display in the Disney Gallery at Tokyo Disneyland. He received an Oscar for Special Visual Effects in Mary Poppins. Later, he served as production designer on Island at the Top of the World and The Black Hole. He was named a Disney Legend in 1993.
