Martin, Bill

Martin, Bill (1917-2010) Designer; joined Disney in 1953 to aid in the design effort for Disneyland. He was associated with such attractions as Snow White’s Scary Adventures, Peter Pan’s Flight, Nature’s Wonderland, the Monorail, the Submarine Voyage, Pirates of the Caribbean, and The Haunted Mansion. He was named vice president of design at WED Enterprises in 1971, and assumed responsibility for the master layout of Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World. He helped design Cinderella Castle, the riverboats, and the utilidors beneath the Magic Kingdom. Bill retired in 1977, but returned to WED (later WDI) as a consultant on Epcot and Tokyo Disneyland. He was named a Disney Legend in 1994.
