Critter Country Land at Disneyland; opened on November 23, 1988. When Splash Mountain was under construction, it was decided to change the name of the area from Bear Country, when the Country Bear Jamboree had been its biggest draw, to Critter Country, which would encompass the bears as well as the new critters who inhabited Splash Mountain. The ambience of the land remained refreshing—tall, shady trees giving a cool forest feel to the area, with rustic buildings nestled among them.
