Feature Animation The new name given to the Disney animation department in the 1980s to differentiate it from Television Animation. Walt Disney Feature Animation creates the Disney animated feature films, and is headquartered at the Disney Studio in Burbank, based in a new building occupied in late 1994. A division of Feature Animation opened at Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World in 1989 and closed in 2004. A Feature Animation Studio opened in France in 1994, taking over Brizzi Films, which had worked on Disney television projects since 1989. It closed in 2003. There was a Disney animation studio in Tokyo, Japan, working primarily on television and video productions, from 1989 to 2004. Feature Animation changed its name to Walt Disney Animation Studios in 2007.
