Music Man, Meredith Willson’s The (television) Three-hour presentation of the classic musical on The Wonderful World of Disney on February 16, 2003. Matthew Broderick stars as Professor Harold Hill, the charming, fast-talking con man who stops off in River City, Iowa, hoping to make a killing selling band instruments and uniforms for the local kids. The town librarian sees through his scam, but falls in love with him. Directed by Jeff Bleckner. Also stars Kristin Chenoweth (Marian Paroo), Victor Garber (Mayor Shinn), Debra Monk (Mrs. Paroo), Molly Shannon (Eulalie Mackecknie Shinn), David Aaron Baker (Marcellus Washburn), Cameron Monaghan (Winthrop). The Music Man, starring Robert Preston as Harold Hill, was a huge hit when it opened on Broadway in 1957, winning six Tony awards. Preston reprised his role in the 1962 film version, which starred Shirley Jones as Marian. Released on video in 2003.
