Hans Brinker or the Silver Skates (television) Two-part television show; aired on January 7 and 14, 1962. Directed by Norman Foster. Hans’s father is injured and all the family’s money saved for Hans’s education must go for medical bills. Hans dabbles in art, and hopes to sell some of his paintings, but then there are more problems with the father. Hans hears of an annual skating race, and he is determined to win it for the prize money and help his family. Hans aborts the race to save a fellow racer, who happens to be the mayor’s son, and the mayor agrees to pay for the needed surgery.
