Burton, Tim Hired by Disney as an artist in 1979, working on concepts for The Black Cauldron. During the five years he was at Disney, he prepared the inventive short films Vincent and Frankenweenie, but neither of them received broad releases. He left Disney in 1984 to eventually direct hits such as Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, and Batman Returns. He returned to the Disney fold in the 1990s to produce Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas and direct Ed Wood. He was the executive producer for Alice Through the Looking Glass and both the director and executive producer of Dumbo (2019).
