Former astronaut Buzz Aldrin joined several other space explorers for the dedication ceremony of the new Tomorrowland at Disneyland in 1998. Freshly painted in bronzes and golds, the new Tomorrowland opened with a mix of classic Tomorrowland attractions and a few new ones, too. Rocket Rods, the all-new high-speed drag-racing attraction that was placed on the PeopleMover track, marked the most-anticipated new addition. It’s opening coincided with Red Rocket’s Pizza Port, which served pizza and pastas. On hand for the attraction’s opening day was world-champion racecar driver Mario Andretti. The landscape of the land was also changed with Agrifuture, which supposes that in the future ornamental landscaping will be replaced with fruits and vegetables.
