The New Descendants 3 Music Video Proves It’s “Good to Be Bad”

By Zach Johnson

TGIF, indeed!

A month after we teased the premiere month for Disney Channel’s Descendants 3 (which will be simulcast on DisneyNOW), we now have an exact date and time: Friday, August 2, at 8 p.m.! To celebrate the news, Walt Disney Records just shared the new “Good to Be Bad” music video. Starring the core four—Mal (Dove Cameron), Carlos (Cameron Boyce), Evie (Sofia Carson), and Jay (Booboo Stewart)—the rallying anthem is available to stream on DisneyMusicVEVO and to download as a single. The soundtrack is also available for pre-order on digital music platforms.

“Good to Be Bad” serves as the opening number in the highly anticipated “three-quel.” The all-new adventure begins on “VK Day,” with the open-minded Villain Kids (aka The VKs) crossing the barrier and returning to the Isle of the Lost. Their goal is simple: Bring four deserving VKs back to Auradon Prep and give them a fresh start, just as King Ben (Mitchell Hope) once did for them. But to everyone’s surprise, Mal decides to close the barrier permanently, fearing her nemeses Uma (China Anne McClain) and Hades (Cheyenne Jackson) might team up to destroy her new home, the idyllic kingdom ruled by her beloved boyfriend. Despite Mal’s decision, a dark and mysterious force threatens the people of Auradon—and it’s up to The VKs to stop it.

Emmy® and DGA Award winner Kenny Ortega—who will be honored as a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo 2019 during a special award ceremony hosted by Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger—returned to direct the new movie. He also choreographed Descendants 3 with Jamal Sims.

Written by WGA Award winners Sara Parriott and Josann McGibbon, Descendants 3 welcomes back actors Thomas Doherty as Harry Hook, Dylan Playfair as Gil, Anna Cathcart as Dizzy, Sarah Jeffery as Audrey, Jedidiah Goodacre as Chad Charming, Zachary Gibson as Doug, Brenna D’Amico as Jane, Judith Maxie as Queen Leah, Dan Payne as Beast, Keegan Connor Tracy as Belle and Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother. Newcomers to the ensemble include Jadah Marie as Celia, Sims as Dr. Facilier, Christian Convery as Squeaky and Luke Roessler as Squirmy.
