Strike up the band!
This weekend marks the 85th anniversary of the classic short film The Band Concert—and you can relive every magical, musical moment by re-watching it today! Originally released on February 23, 1935, The Band Concert was directed by Wilfred Jackson and featured adapted music by Leigh Harline. The Band Concert was a ringing success, making Donald Duck (voice of Clarence Nash) more popular than ever. It was also Mickey Mouse’s first theatrically-released color cartoon!
The Band Concert stars Mickey Mouse as a frustrated bandleader who is trying to conduct an orchestra of characters… when he’s not being interrupted by Donald, that is! Keep an eye out for Goofy, Daniel Dog, Clarabelle Cow, Horace Horsecollar, Peter Pig, and Paddy Pig in the short as Donald tries to persuade the band to play “Turkey in the Straw” before a cyclone hits and Mickey’s concert of “William Tell Overture” is finished!
After watching The Band Concert, experience the fun yourself on the Silly Symphony Swings at Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California!
