Tokyo DisneySea Opens

The second Japanese Disney theme park, Tokyo DisneySea, allowed guests to soak in the surroundings of a world inspired by the myths and legends of the sea. Built on the shores of Tokyo Bay, guests to the aquatic Disney Park can voyage into seven distinct “ports of call,” including Mediterranean Harbor, Mysterious Island, Mermaid Lagoon, Arabian Coast, Lost River Delta, Port Discovery, and American Waterfront. In addition to the many attractions, those seeking live entertainment can also enjoy some of the most extravagant shows offered in a Disney resort. Several of the shows take place on the Tokyo DisneySea waterway, which weaves through the park and is the largest body of water in any Disney park—it holds 41 million gallons of water and covers more than 22 acres! That’s nearly one fourth the entire size of Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California. The 10 millionth guest visited less than one year after the park opened, and guests continue to “flood” to the extravagant Tokyo DisneySea each day.
