The Tower of Terror Airs on The Wonderful World of Disney

“When: Halloween, 1939. Where: The Hollywood Tower Hotel. Who: Sally Shine and four others. What: They all disappeared mysteriously from the elevator,” as photojournalist Buzzy Crocker (Steve Guttenberg) explained on this day when The Tower of Terror movie made its de-boo on The Wonderful World of Disney in 1997. But Crocker is certain he’s got the “why.” After encountering an elderly woman who claims to have been there, he investigates the decades-old disappearance, and believes he knows why Sally Shine, the biggest child-star in history, mysteriously disappeared in the elevator that fateful night. Based on the frightfully fun Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, the film incorporates familiar sights and sounds for anyone who has ever dared to enter the attraction.
