Spy Hard

Spy Hard is Released

Move over James Bond, and make way for Steele, Dick Steele (Leslie Nielsen), aka Agent WD-40, who bumbled his way into theaters on this day in 1996 in the film Spy Hard. Called out of retirement and teamed with Agent 3.13 (Nicollette Sheridan), Steele is sent on a mission to stop the evil and armless General Rancor (Andy Griffith) before he destroys the world. The film spoofs movies such as True Lies, Speed, Jurassic Park, Pulp Fiction, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and, of course, the James Bond films. But, what’s a good James Bond film spoof without a good James Bond theme song spoof? The theme song for Spy Hard was performed by “Weird Al” Yankovic and contains the lyric, “Facing death everyday is a tough job for any man, but his hours are flexible and he’s got a great dental plan. By the way, if you walked in late, allow me to reiterate, the name of this movie is Spy Hard!”
