Paul Newman in Color of Money

Paul Newman Wins Oscar® for The Color of Money

Nominated for five Academy Awards®, this film brought Paul Newman his first Academy Award win, playing for the second time the role of “Fast” Eddie Felson. Newman, known for his naturalistic acting ability, had been nominated for the Oscar® six times before and each time went home empty-handed. So he decided to stay home and skip the ceremony. To his surprise, he won Best Actor but wasn’t there to accept the award in person. Newman went on to do more work for the studio, lending his voice to Doc Hudson, the retired race car in Disney·Pixar’s Cars, which was his final film role.
