Kitchen Kabaret

Kitchen Kabaret at Epcot Closes

Here’s some food for thought: the Kitchen Kabaret Audio-Animatronics® revue premiered at Epcot on the park’s opening day in 1982, and was a tasteful show featuring hostess Bonnie Appetit and a cast of singing foods and utensils who helped educate about nutrition with music and cheesy humor. A crooning milk carton introduced the dairy beauties, Miss Cheese, Miss Yogurt, and Miss Ice Cream. Although slightly corny, the Cereal Sisters, reminiscent of the Andrews Sisters, was comprised of singing containers of oat, rice and corn, singing about the “Boogie Woogie Bakery Boy” with a slice of accompaniment from a trumpet-playing loaf of bread. The team of Hamm & Eggz “beefed up” the show with their vaudeville-style humor, cracking jokes about meat. A chorus of vegetables and fruits spiced up the show with “Veggie Veggie Fruit Fruit” before the finale. It was on this day in 1994 that the Kitchen Kabaret served up its final performance.
