Injustice and tyranny spark the action of the great adventure known as the Boston Tea Party, and a young lad named Johnny Tremain plays an important role in the budding struggle for human liberty. In 1957’s Johnny Tremain, audiences join Johnny and the Sons of Liberty to relive those stirring events that have long inspired freedom-loving people everywhere. Although not a musical, the film features a memorable song about the Liberty Tree, written by Disney Legend George Bruns. Visitors to Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World are able to step into a real life recreation of Johnny Tremain’s era by visiting Liberty Square, where they may dine at the Liberty Tree Tavern or reflect upon Disney’s own Liberty Tree, a southern live oak that is more than a century old.
