D23 Members took a quest earlier this month for a special early look at Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 during our Spotlight Series event. In the first week of December, the historic Grand Central Air Terminal in Glendale, CA, transformed into a hotspot for demigod sightings—read on for a rundown on how we celebrated the second season of the hit series! Members were treated to a tantalizing two-punch special even, starting with a talent panel featuring stars of Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2! Onstage, executive producer Craig Silverstein, and executive producer / episode director James Bobin were joined by Daniel Diemer (Tyson) and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue). With Screenrant’s Liam Crowley moderating, fans learned a tidal wave’s worth about their favorite stars and producers’ love of the series, and what Season 2 has in store.
Fans will be happy to know that our panelists were obsessed with the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians book series for just as long as they’ve been—which both Diemer and Goodjohn channeled during their audition process. Goodjohn, for one, nearly knocked over her laptop while practicing stunt moves with a makeshift spear! We were also clued in on the character work done to bring our favorite demigods to life, from binders-worth of Greek mythology need-to-knows to Diemer envisioning depth perception from a Cyclops’ perspective. Executive producers Silverstein and Bobin also shared the exciting—and logistically challenging—surprises for Season 2. TLDR: Coordinating a chariot race with moving carts, actors, and cameras takes a Greek god-like level of attention to detail, if you’re ever thinking of attempting.
Later, in a lightning strike of fortune, Tamara Smart—who plays Thalia Grace, the daughter of Zeus—burst onto the stage for even more demigod “goss,” including some regarding the ongoing production for Season 3... which covers the third book in the series, The Titan’s Curse. For now, though, we promised fans a sneak preview of the first episode of Season 2, which our fans saw nearly a week before its Disney+ and Hulu debut! It was the perfect way to tee up excitement for the series’ return, and an official declaration of “Percember.” A special video thank-you message from some of the series’ other stars—including Walker Scobell (Percy), Leah Sava’ Jeffries (Annabeth), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover)—was the cherry on top of a fun evening of Olympian proportions!
Maybe the frigid L.A. weather outside (hovering in the low 60s) kept guests inside for a little longer, but many fans stayed after the panel and screening to share their excitement for the series. D23 greeted fans in handmade cosplay and Camp Half Blood-bounds, and even caught exchanges of handmade gifts and stickers! #Percabeth is alive and well in 2025, if you’re wondering, and so are the fans who keep the legends behind Percy Jackson and the Olympians—books, the TV series, or otherwise—going.
A monstrous thank you to our panelists, D23 members, and fans for sailing with us on this adventure. Quest to your next event with us through the D23 Event and Join pages, and catch Percy Jackson and the Olympians on Disney+ and Hulu!
