ICYMI: D23 Event Lookback July-Sept 2025

Howdy, D23 fans! Our summer was packed to the brim with screenings, celebrations, and conventions to remember. Read on and learn about our events— big and small, from coast to coast— and what you can look forward to as we close out 2025!

ChEARs to 70 Years (of Disneyland)!

The Happiest Place on Earth celebrated 70 years this July, and we couldn’t have been happier to commemorate the occasion with our fans! Our multiday programming began with an evening takeover of the iconic Anaheim Packing District, where D23 Members enjoyed a multicultural tasting menu and mingled over Disneyland-themed trivia. We also hosted an exclusive showing of Walt Disney – A Magical Life, the latest Audio-Animatronics® addition to The Disneyland Story presenting Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln! Joining us were Imagineer Jeffrey Shaver-Moskowitz and Walt Disney Archives Director Becky Cline to share what it was like to bring Walt to life at Disneyland. We closed out the weekend with a special Spotlight Series event about Disneyland’s early era— read more HERE!

Tours, Talks, and More

Also in July, we held space for plenty of yee-haws and oh-wows during D23’s tour of Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA! During this fan-favorite event, our friends at Pixar took us through galleries, animation areas, and the Pixar Animation Studios Archives (a D23 first!), with a special focus on celebrating 30 years of Toy Story. Reach for the sky… and raise your hands if you’d like us to round up more tours like these!

A few weeks later, whilst en route to Mount Olympus, we hosted author Rick Riordan for an evening discussion event celebrating 20 years of the bestselling book series Percy Jackson and the Olympians! Fans and demigods-in-disguise (unconfirmed) had chalice-fuls of fun reminiscing on the absolutely mythical impact of these stories. Up next—maybe an escalator ride up the Empire State Building?

We also returned to Kingswell Avenue in Los Angeles’ Los Feliz neighborhood to celebrate one year since the dedication of Disney Bros. Cartoon Studio Square. D23 helped spotlight the community’s creative history, including inviting Disney Legend Bill Farmer— voice of Goofy and Pluto—for inspiring words and commentary on the day’s costume and puppy parade. Woof, woof!

The Journey to Destination D23!

Drumroll, please! We landed in Orlando over Labor Day Weekend for our bigger-than-ever biennial celebration of all things Disney— Destination D23! Themed as “A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney,” fans got the inside scoop on upcoming projects from across the company, a spotlight of cultural creativity, and had a whole lotta fun with musical performances, big-league trivia on the main stage, and more.

Catch up on everything that was announced HERE, including Hexed, a new original feature from Walt Disney Animation Studios, the next installment of the Ice Age saga, and dates for upcoming D23 programming, including D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event!

One thing we doubled down on was our nostalgia for fan-favorite franchises— including a toony tune-in to a Disney Channel retrospective and getting drawn into a Phineas and Ferb panel featuring creators Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh. The Emperor’s New Groove and A Goofy Movie got their flowers for their 25th and 30th anniversaries, respectively, and we also paid homage to Imagineer and Disney Legend X Atencio, who had a hand in the iconic Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion attractions. Finally, our ’80s-’90s Celebration featured performances by Disney on Broadway and Disney Animation stars and other special guests for a showy showtunes send-off.

And what would Destination be without a slate for Disney Springs? D23 Members got into some acrobatic action with VIP tours and a Q & A during Cirque du Soleil’s Drawn to Life and enjoyed speed puzzling at the Edison. Nearby at the AMC Disney Springs, we also recreated the premiere of A Goofy Movie for the finale of D23 On The Road programming this summer. Fans enjoyed themed eats, photo ops, and celeb appearances for the full V.I.G. (Very Important Goof) experience. And while a little more groovy than goofy, D23 embarked on an evening Kuzcotopia-themed takeover of Typhoon Lagoon that made waves for our Emperor’s New Groove fans!

Summer of Screen(ings)!

Last but not least, here’s how D23 showed up on the big screen this season! The vibes ranged from freaky to fantastic—due in no small part to our advance screenings of Freakier Friday and Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Before the big finale in Florida, D23 On The Road hosted Denver, Seattle, San Diego, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Boston, St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Indianapolis interactive screenings of A Goofy Movie, too!

Kick off the holiday season with D23 On The Road: Home Alone! We’re celebrating 35 years of the iconic Christmas comedy across the country—don’t get left behind on this surefire festive fun!

Back in LA, we celebrated 30 years of Toy Story and 35 years of Pretty Woman during outdoor screenings with Street Food Cinema. The first featured a Pizza Planet truck for an out-of-this-world photo-op, and the second included a display from The Walt Disney Archives of three iconic outfits worn by Julia Roberts— pretty neat, if you ask us!

Finally, you know we don’t cap about the El Cap. At the historic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, we partnered with Hulu for an exclusive preview showing of the new season of King of The Hill, featuring photo ops, appearances by the classic sitcom’s showrunners, and a live organist! The venue also hosted a showing of FX’s Alien: Earth, where fans were treated to a preview of the new sci-fi thriller, and a grab bag of goodies for the space ride home.

Ho yeah! We hoped you enjoyed our events this summer! Keep track of what’s coming up on D23’s event page, and learn more about Gold Member benefits— including events— on our D23 Membership page! Happy fall, y’all!
