“Woo Hoo!” 6 Sensational Ways to Celebrate World Simpsons Day!

By Courtney Potter

On April 19, 1987, The Simpsons made their TV debut as animated shorts during the FOX television series The Tracey Ullman Show… and pop culture would never be the same! Just a few years later, in 1990, The Simpsons would become its own FOX animated series; now the longest-running primetime scripted TV series in history (animated or not), it continues to delight viewers all over the world. Besides airing on FOX, you can find the show’s current season 37 streaming on Hulu, and catch up with all previous seasons on Disney+. (And don’t forget to stay tuned for the big The Simpsons Movie sequel, coming in 2027.)

To celebrate the show’s incredible, decades-long legacy, April 19 has been designated World Simpsons Day—and D23 has compiled a list of ways to mark the auspicious occasion! (This is by no means exhaustive; there’s all manner of Simpsons goodies to partake in nowadays.)

So go grab yourself a Squishee from the Kwik-E-Mart, settle in on your favorite couch, and enjoy…

In the episode titled “Irrational Treasure,” which originally aired on FOX this past February 15, Marge (Julie Kavner) enters Santa’s Little Helper into the National Dog Show in Philadelphia—and adventure ensues! Guest voices on the episode included Kevin Bacon, and Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson.

Other milestone and fan-favorite episodes are also available to stream—including, among many others, the 200th episode from 1998, entitled “Trash of the Titans”; the 400th episode from 2007, entitled “You Kent Always Say What You Want”; and the 666th episode, which was (naturally) 2019’s Treehouse of Horror XXX.

D’oh! And don’t forget The Simpsons Stream on Disney+, featuring a 24/7 Simpsons programming lineup accessible to all subscribers.

Super Cool Simpsons Merch
Several brands are getting into the World Simpsons Day this year, which means you can take the pop-culture fun home in all new ways! Case in point: This fabulous NYX and The Simpsons makeup collaboration that originally launched on April Fool’s Day. (Nope, it’s decidedly not a joke!)

The special collection includes blush, bronzer, several lip products, an eyeshadow palette, and a brow and hair styler. When NYX first announced this most excellent collab, it was Marge Simpson herself who took over (just for the day!) as their SHE-O. What an icon!

On the left, a model wears three Krusty Burger-themed hats on her head and holds a bat that has another hat perched on top; she’s also wearing a t-shirt featuring Homer Simpson. In the middle, an image of many hats in the Lids collection, representing several MLB teams. On the right, a model wears four sky-blue hats with iconic Simpsons cloud imagery.

Additionally, hat brand Lids recently offered up their The Simpsons x MLB x New Era collection featuring five headwear capsules—a 59FIFTY New Era style with the show’s signature cloud animation; a 59FIFTY design of Homer swinging a bat; an A-frame silhouette with the aforementioned cloud imagery; a teal and cream A-frame collection inspired by Krusty Burger; and an A-frame assortment with team-specific animations tailored to each MLB franchise. Beyond headwear, the collection also features a graphic tee, where an MLB team is paired with one of the show’s characters across an array of designs.

Most of the hats are sold out online, but there’s a chance you can still find them in-store at a Lids location near you!

Year-round, fans can also take home their own Simpsons swag from partners like Homage, Funko, Jakks, and KidRobot!
