As part of the Year of a Million Dreams marketing promotion at the Disneyland Resort, the rooms above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction in New Orleans Square were remodeled into the extravagant Dream Suite. Guests of the Resort, chosen at random, would win the opportunity to spend a night in the lavish 2,600-square-foot quarters. Although conceived by Walt Disney as a private apartment for his family and closest friends, he passed away before the suite was ever completed, so when it was decided to create the Dream Suite, Imagineers turned to the original renderings for inspiration. The final results include a New Orleans Square-themed front parlor, one Adventureland-themed master bedroom, and another master bedroom with a Fantasyland theme inspired by Sleeping Beauty. The central courtyard was complete with electronic fireflies in the trees. Along with electronic surprises in almost every room, select guests were certainly treated to a night of the suite life!
