Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island, which opened on this day in 1956, ferries guests to the reimagined Pirates Lair on Tom Sawyer Island. It is, along with Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes, one of two Disneyland attractions that don’t move on tracks, with the exception of the vehicles on Main Street, U.S.A., which include the Fire Engine, Horse-Drawn Streetcars, the Horseless Carriage, and the Omnibus. It’s been estimated that the Rafts to Tom Sawyer Island make nearly 300 round trips per day.
