Tarzan, a Walt Disney Pictures film released in 1999, is based on the story Tarzan of the Apes by Edgar Rice Burroughs. In the animated movie, Tarzan—an infant—is left an orphan on land near uncharted rainforests off the coast of Africa when his parents are killed. A female Gorilla, Kala, finds him and takes him with her to raise as her own. Though he grows up with and loves the other gorillas, Tarzan doesn’t really feel like he belongs. Then, when a team of explorers visits from England, Tarzan meets Jane, the daughter of a professor, and he is fascinated with her. Tarzan was directed by Chris Buck, and all of the songs were written by Phil Collins. On January 23, 2000, Phil won the Golden Globe® Award for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture for his touching tune “You’ll Be in My Heart.”
