Goof Troop Debuts in Syndication

The year 1992 was a big one for Goofy! After all, 60 years in showbiz is a big accomplishment for any entertainer, even an animated bumbling human-like dog. The company celebrated the anniversary with merchandise, The World According to Goofy parade at Disneyland, and a brand-new animated television series, Goof Troop, featuring the star himself and an all-new character, Goofy’s son Max, who goes out of his way to try to be as un-goofy as possible. Goof Troop made its television debut on the Disney Channel in April 1992, and it was on this day in ’92 that it made its syndication debut as part of The Disney Afternoon, a popular two-hour package of Disney’s animated television series, which at that time also included Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, and Darkwing Duck.
