10 Great Sports Movies You Can Stream Now

By Alison Stateman

Sports fans—and those seeking a compelling true story—will be treated to the extraordinary tale of NBA superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo and his family when the Disney+ Original movie Rise debuts exclusively on the streamer on June 24. The film is based on the inspiring experiences of the Antetokounmpo family, which produced the first trio of brothers to become NBA champions in the history of the league. (Check out the exclusive trailer here!)

To celebrate the film’s highly anticipated release, we’ve rounded up some of the best sports movies and documentaries available to watch (or watch again!) on Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+. From current documentaries to classic dramas and even a legendary animated offering, we’ve got you covered.

A still from Double Dribble shows two of the Goofy look-alikes, with one holding a basketball, with the other Goofy requesting it.

Double Dribble (1946) – Available on Disney+
While most sports movies immortalize and celebrate the virtues of sport, the Disney animated short Double Dribble skewers sports’ idiosyncrasies by depicting a college basketball game between U.U. and its thousands of assembled fans, and P.U., who only has one fan in the arena, Goofy. The game, played by Goofy look-alikes, proceeds in ludicrous fashion, spotlighting the cheating players and the semi-blind referee missing all the calls. We won’t reveal who wins this titanic struggle, but players’ names—including Hannah and Lounsbery—were inside jokes and based on the short’s director, Disney Legend Jack Hannah, and animator, Disney Legend and member of the “Nine Old Men,” John Lounsbery.

Emilio Estevez, who stars in The Mighty Ducks, stands in sunglasses and office attire with the cast of relative newcomers try to look tough.

The Mighty Ducks (1992) – Available on Disney+
Quack! Quack! Quack! Sports fans love underdogs (under-ducks?), and on October 1, 1992, Emilio Estevez and a cast of relatively unknown kid-actors hit the ice in the ultimate underdog story. The Mighty Ducks was the surprise hit of 1992, launching a trio of films, an animated TV series, and even a professional hockey team, the Anaheim Ducks. Estevez stars as hard-hitting trial lawyer Gordon Bombay, who gets in trouble with the law and is slapped with a community service assignment of coaching a disastrously bad kids’ hockey team. And although Bombay’s past experience as a win-at-all-cost youth-league hockey player (and lawyer) seem, at first, to be exactly what this losing team needs, he soon learns that some things are more important than winning. The film launched the careers of many of its young actors, including Joshua Jackson, who went on to star in Dawson’s Creek, Fringe, Urban Legend, and Cruel Intentions; Aaron Schwartz, who also starred in the film Heavyweights; and Elden Henson, who became a fan favorite in Marvel’s Daredevil and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1 and Part 2. The success of the film led to the release of more Mighty Ducks fun, also available on Disney+.

Beloved comedian John Candy stands with four actors playing members of the Jamaica national bobsled team in a snowy scene. The bobsled members look miserable and cold.

Cool Runnings (1993) – Available on Disney+
The idea of a competitive Jamaica bobsled team has the makings of comedy and movie gold, but the fact that it’s based on a true story makes this film a true family gem. Giving the film extra poignancy is the fact that it also happens to be one of the final onscreen appearances of beloved comedy legend John Candy—and the last movie released during his lifetime. Based on the true story of the Jamaica national bobsleigh team’s debut in competition at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, the film landed clearly in the hearts of audiences and critics alike. As can be expected, pulling together a team from the warm-weather paradise of Jamaica to compete at the highest level of winter-weather sports is no easy task, but Candy’s character, Irving Blitzer, is up for the challenge, even if the world thinks it can’t be done. We won’t spoil the ending for you, but rest assured that the film never disappoints and is about a whole lot more than coming in first place—and its heart-stealing final scenes will have you hitting rewind again and again.

Denzel Washington, playing coach Herman Boone, in Remember the Titans stands smiling in a red polo and black shorts with a whistle around his neck, as football players dressed in white uniforms practice.

Remember the Titans (2000) – Available on Disney+
When young Black coach Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), new to Alexandria, Virginia, is hired as head coach of the T.C. Williams High Titans over Bill Yost, a white man with several years’ seniority, the pair learns to work with each other and discovers they have a lot more in common than just football. One of the best movies about football ever made, Remember the Titans features realistic gridiron action, an unforgettable performance by Denzel Washington, an impossibly undersized outside linebacker played by Ryan Gosling, and a moving storyline that will have you shouting “Remember the Titans!” as the end credits roll.

Dennis Quaid as Jim Morris, stands in the middle of his high school classroom mid-instruction as several students look on.

The Rookie (2002) – Available on Disney+
Director John Lee Hancock (The Blind Side, Saving Mr. Banks) hits another one out of the park with The Rookie, which tells the story of Jimmy Morris (as an adult played by Dennis Quaid), who is robbed of a professional career in baseball by injury and who is now a high school teacher and baseball coach in Big Lake, Texas. His team makes a deal with Morris; if they win the district championship, he has to try out with a big-league team. When the team goes from worst to first, Morris gets that try out, dazzles the Tampa Bay Devil Rays with his fastball, and earns a minor-league contract. The Rookie remains a powerful story about never giving up on your dreams (and Dennis Quaid looks like he can really pitch!).

A stirring mid-action scene showcases three members of the 1980 Winter Olympics men’s hockey team on the ice with the puck in their possession.

Miracle (2004) – Available on Disney+
Disney Legend Kurt Russell plays hockey coach Herb Brooks, who at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York, fielded a ragtag squad of elite wannabes who would eventually go on to win the gold medal in men’s hockey. To do so, they had to vanquish a juggernaut Soviet Union team, gold medal winners in the previous four Winter Olympics—a squad still thought of today as the greatest international hockey team of all time. If you were old enough to watch this event unfold live on television (ahem), the movie always sparks warm nostalgia; if you never saw the game, you have to watch this retelling of one of the most miraculous sports events of all time.

Shia LeBeouf lines up his shot with his young golf caddy in The Greatest Game, a movie that explores the true story of Francis Ouimet, a former caddy, who won the U.S. Open at age 20.

The Greatest Game Ever Played (2005) – Available on Disney+
Golf movies hold a special place in the hearts of any human being who has had the courage—or stupidity—to pick up a mashie, a niblick, or a mashie-niblick (i.e., golf clubs). There’s something so spiritual about the sport, so enigmatic (ask former pro golfer David Duval, who went from No. 1 in the world and winning the Open Championship in 2001 to never winning a tournament again) that fans love to watch golf movies, if only to understand what makes the sport so intriguing, beautiful, and utterly frustrating. The Greatest Game Ever Played is one of those special films that golfers everywhere love to talk about. It tells the true story of Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf), a former caddy, who won the U.S. Open at age 20, assisted by his 10-year-old caddy, Eddie. It’s inspiring enough to make you pick up the old clubs—or forget that dumb idea and sit back and watch the movie again!

Basketball players from the first all-Black team that won the NCAA champ on the court in their game jerseys take the court in this scene from Glory Road.

Glory Road (2006) – Available on Disney+
Just about anyone who loves the sport and didn’t attend the school pretty much dislikes the University of Kentucky basketball team. They have this somewhat obnoxious habit of winning almost every game they play. That gives Glory Road, not that it needs it, an extra bounce of likeability, because it tells the inspiring true story of perennial underdog the Texas Western Miners, coached by passionately dedicated coach Dan Haskins (played with relentless conviction by Josh Lucas), who in 1966, fielded an all-Black team that won the NCAA tournament, vanquishing the all-white University of Kentucky Wildcats. It’s an inspiring story that’s as relevant today as it was in 1966.

Dream On (2022) – Available on ESPN+
Part of the acclaimed Peabody and Emmy®-award winning 30 for 30 series, the documentary examines the 1996 USA Women’s Dream Team and the 14-month odyssey that would forever change the landscape of women’s athletics. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, the USA women’s basketball team dominated the competition. Eight wins. Zero losses. Gold medals around their necks. They made it look easy. But that’s barely the start of the real story of the Women’s Dream Team. Because the truth about how the team came together, and what they endured on their grueling 14-month road leading up to the Olympics, is one of the most unlikely and complicated tales told in sports history. Nothing less than the future of basketball was in their hands. If the ’96 team won and captured the hearts of fans, the NBA was prepared to launch the WNBA. If they failed, the league would scrap their plans. The film, which premiered on June 15, is available on ESPN+ along with the rest of the 30 for 30 library.

Fifty/50 Shorts Presented by Google (2022) – Available on ESPN/YouTube
The first project under ESPN’s W. Studios umbrella focuses on giving women athletes the recognition they deserve. W. Studios Fifty/50 Shorts Presented by Google encompasses five short films centered around the fight for women’s equality across the sports and cultural landscape. All helmed and executive produced by women, the films, which premiered on ESPN2 on June 1, are available to watch on ESPN’s YouTube page.

Be sure to tune into Disney+ on June 24 to catch the debut of Rise!

Sizzling Secrets from Disney’s Summer Magic Quest

By Andie Hagemann

The stars of ZOMBIES 3 are ready to duke it out in a battle royal!

Disney’s Summer Magic Quest, the third installment of Disney’s Magic Quest specials, will take place at EPCOT at Walt Disney World Resort as stars Meg Donnelly, Pearce Joza, Kylee Russell, and Matt Cornett participate in exciting new challenges. The competitors embark on a crusade throughout the park after dark, including the World Showcase and the all-new Wonders of Xandar Pavilion. Plus, actress and comedian , and friend of D23 Yvette Nicole Brown returns to host the special! Disney’s Summer Magic Quest premieres Sunday, June 26, at 7 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel, and will be available to stream on Disney+ later this summer. For more on the special, enjoy our Q&A with director and executive producer Artur Spigel.

D23: What sets Disney’s Summer Magic Quest apart from the previous specials?
Artur Spigel (AS): This time, it’s a new park with new challenges, and new format to the show. For the first time ever, teams are going head-to-head as they make their way around EPCOT.

D23: What was it like to film this special at EPCOT for the first time?
AS: It’s a dream come true to be in the park at night and have this ultimate playground. It’s a really magical experience because the park is still alive at night—there’s just no guests there. You can be in awe of all the amazing aspects and energy that goes into this incredible location. EPCOT in general has always been one of my favorite parks. Honestly, the gift shop in Japan is one of my favorite places to shop ever! We were fortunate to shoot in the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind—it’s a great honor to work with Imagineering and be able to do that. It’s surreal that I get to do this for a living.

Meg Donnelly and Pearce Joza stand back-to-back in front of Starship Earth at EPCOT.

D23: How was it to work with the cast? Did the new format foster a natural competitive energy amongst them and/or play off each other?
AS: I think the unique aspect of Magic Quest versus ZOMBIES 3 is that they really get to be themselves; there’s no lines or scenes to memorize, and they get to compete against their co-stars. They have such an amazing relationship after working on the movies together, and now they get to play in the park.

D23: How did the idea for the series come about?
AS: It’s something I think a lot of us always dreamed of as a kid—being the only people at Walt Disney World. We’ve had the good fortune of working with Disney Parks and Yellow Shoes for about 17 years and have built trust in terms of how we handle Disney intellectual property and show the parks. We couldn’t do this without the folks at Disney Parks.

D23: This is Meg’s second time competing. How was it to work with her again? Do you think her experience gave her an advantage over her co-stars?
AS: Meg is an incredible actress, but she’s also an equally amazing person. She was so happy, and enthusiastic to be there. I don’t think there’s an advantage because the competition is real. They didn’t really know what they were getting into; there was no script, and they didn’t see any of the challenges ahead of time. I think she knew what it would take to have the endurance to make it all night, but she didn’t know anything specific, so it was up to her to deliver.

D23: You previously mentioned your love for the Japan Pavilion, but do you have a favorite attraction at EPCOT?
AS: For the longest time, I think my favorite attraction was Soarin’, but I will say that Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is my new favorite. I love that franchise and it’s a whole new experience and different type of attraction—you’re not quite sure what’s happening, but you’re in the middle of this kind of intergalactic chase, and it really takes you somewhere else.

Kylee Russell and Matt Cornett stand back-to-back in front of Spaceship Earth at EPCOT

D23: What are you most excited for audiences to see in this special?
AS: Whenever we make a Magic Quest, I put myself in the shoes of all the kids at home who wish they could be there or wish they could be the talent. The thing I’m most excited about is to fulfill some wishes or allow some kids who imagine them in the shoes of a talent experiencing these games and playing along with them. One of the things that I love about working for Disney is we’re in the wish business. Whenever you can deliver that to an audience and make them imagine—that’s the part I love most, and I hope the audience feels that.

D23: Did your kids inspire any aspects of the series?
AS: [My kids] are a real-time focus group. I share cuts with them and just by seeing their reaction to the material I can see if something will work or not.

D23: Why should D23 fans watch Disney’s Summer Magic Quest?
AS: It’s Disney Parks and some amazing Disney characters presented in a way never seen before. We were able to do things on this show that no one’s ever been able to do.

D23 Celebrates Rising LGBTQIA+ Stars

By Victoria Hunt

This month we’re celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community. Disney recognizes this community’s significant impact on the entertainment industry and, in honor of Pride month, we are highlighting some of the most promising Disney stars that identify as queer.

Dove Cameron
Cameron’s first taste of stardom was on her Emmy® award-winning hit Disney Channel show Liv and Maddie, where she played teen twins leading very different lives. Outside of the show, Cameron has become the face of The Descendants film series playing the role of Mal, the daughter of Maleficent.

Just when you think she can’t get any cooler, she has also starred in Marvel Studio’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as Ruby Hale.

In August 2020, Cameron took to social media to announce that she identifies as queer. She doesn’t label her sexuality, but finds herself somewhere within the spectrum. At only 26, she has already made an impression at Disney and is sure to only continue to do so in the years to come!

Auli’i Cravalho
This talented actress gave voice to the title character in the hit Disney 2016 animated film Moana. She was also cast as Ariel in The Wonderful World of Disney’s The Little Mermaid Live! Cravalho’s newest project is Hulu’s Crush (2022), where she portrays high school student AJ Campos, who catches the eye of Paige, an aspiring young artist forced to join her high school track team.

During the first few months of quarantine, when TikTok rose in popularity, Cravalho took the opportunity to come out to her fans through the social media platform. The 21-year-old native Hawaiian identifies as bisexual and remains open about her sexuality to her fans.

Frankie Rodriguez
Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series has been groundbreaking in its portrayal of queer characters. Frankie Rodriguez, who plays Carlos on the show, identifies as gay on and off the screen, dating HSMTMTS’s costar Joe Serafini. He has also acted in Hulu’s Will and Grace reboot.

His performance in HSMTMTS was recognized with a nomination for The Queerties, an annual award honoring the LGBTQIA+ community’s brightest stars and innovators.

Joshua Bassett
Rodriguez isn’t the only Wildcat to positively affirm his identity. Bassett, who plays the role of Ricky Bowen on High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, publicly came out in 2021 as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community. Like Dove Cameron, Bassett doesn’t feel a need to label his sexuality, but rather finds himself within the spectrum of sexualities.

He makes it a point to celebrate love of all kinds on social media with his large Disney fan base.

Jack Dylan Grazer
Jack Dylan Grazer, who voiced Alberto Scrofano in Disney and Pixar’s Luca (2021), has made a name for himself in the Disney universe and garnered fans of all ages. He also voiced Barney Pudowski in Walt Disney’s Ron Gone Wrong (2021).

In 2021, at just 17 years old, Grazer came out as bisexual to a fan on Instagram Live. He also identifies with both “he” and “they” pronouns.

Everything New You Can Stream on Disney+ in July 2022

By Zach Johnson

Disney+ has a sizzling lineup for the month of July!

A new installment of Marvel Studios Assembled will premiere on Friday, July 1, chronicling the making ofDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Join director Sam Raimi and the cast as they recount their experiences bringing Marvel’s darkest story to life. From world- to universe-building, hear first-hand accounts from the cast and crew about what it took to design and create each unique and believable element of the film. That same day, several National Geographic titles will be added to the Disney+ library.

As part of the Disney+ Independence Day celebration, all six episodes of National Geographic’s America the Beautiful will stream on Monday, July 4. Narrated by Michael B. Jordan, the documentary tells the story of our homeland and its animals. Close out the week on Friday, July 8, when The Wonderful Summer of Mickey Mouse debuts. Watch as Mickey Mouse and his friends each recall the wild events leading up to the Annual Summer Fireworks Spectacular, as told from their varying points of view.

In the foreground, green-haired zombie Zed (Milo Manheim) wears a pink and green Seabrook football jersey. He has removed his helmet and is hugging blonde cheerleader Addison (Meg Donnelly), who is wearing a pink, green, and white uniform. In the background, Seabrook cheerleaders are waving pink pom poms in the air.

Are you already counting down until Friday, July 15, when the Disney+ Original movie ZOMBIES 3—the third chapter in Disney Branded Television’s hit ZOMBIES franchise—debuts on Disney+? It’s senior year at Seabrook, and the town has finally become a safe haven for monsters and humans alike. Zed (Milo Manheim) is on track to receive a football scholarship and become the first zombie ever to attend college. Addison (Meg Donnelly) is excited to mark the opening of the town’s brand-new “cheer pavilion” by inviting cheer teams from all over the world to compete in an “international cheer-off.” However, Seabrook is shocked by the arrival of a new group of intergalactic outsiders who show up to compete in the cheer-off. Though they begrudgingly allow the aliens to stay for the competition, the monsters and humans of Seabrook grow suspicious when they discover that the aliens may be looking for more than a friendly competition.

Five days later, stream two new Disney+ Original series. Siempre Fui Yo (It Was Always Me) follows the adventures of Lupe (Sevilla), whose life takes an unexpected turn when she finds out her father—El Faraón, Colombia’s greatest music star—has died, prompting her to leave her native Mexico and travel to Cartagena, Colombia, to attend his funeral. Once there, she quickly realizes that nothing is what it seems and decides to enroll in a musical contest to be close to her father’s entourage and look into his suspicious death. The Disney+ Original series Tudo Igual… Só Que Não centers on Carol (Gabriella Saraivah), whose life is at a crossroads. She faces the typical adolescent challenges, exploring new feelings and realizing that getting to know herself and respecting her emotions are the keys to happiness—even if she makes a few mistakes.

The cast of High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season three pose against an orange background. They are seated on a truck bed and stacked green picnic tables. From left to right are Meg Donnelly as Val, sitting on a picnic bench and wearing a printed white top and red, white, and blue striped shorts; Saylor Bell Curda as Maddox, sitting behind Meg on a different picnic bench and wearing a flannel shirt over a black tee and denim jeans; Matt Cornett as E.J., standing with his legs crossed and wearing a blue tank top with a brown Camp Shallow Lake logo, paired with olive green shorts and brown hiking boots; Frankie Rodriguez as Carlos, sitting on the opposite side of Saylor’s bench and wearing glasses, a red and white patterned top, and white cuffed pants; Joshua Bassett as Ricky, reclining on the truck’s wheel and wearing a blue polo, gray cuffed shorts and sneakers; Julia Lester as Ashlyn, standing behind Joshua and wearing a denim jumpsuit, patterned socks and striped sneakers; Adrian Lyles as Jet, sitting behind Julia and wearing a denim jacket, green cuffed pants and sneakers; Dara Reneé as Kourtney, sitting below Julia and wearing a green leopard print top, a rainbow striped belt, a denim skirt, and red boots; and Sofia Wylie as Gina, standing on a picnic bench and wearing a pastel crocheted top, high-waisted purple shorts and white tennis shoes. Almost everyone is smiling and looking into the camera.

Another pair of Disney+ Originals will arrive on Wednesday, July 27. High School Musical: The Musical: The Series returns for its third season, in which the Wildcats head to Camp Shallow Lake, a California sleepaway camp, where they and their fellow campers are primed for an unforgettable summer ripe with romance, curfew-less nights, and a taste of the great outdoors. With a high-stakes production of Frozen on the horizon and a drama-filled “docu-series” in the works, the Wildcats will attempt to show who is “best in snow” without leaving anyone out in the cold. In Light & Magic, Academy Award®-nominated filmmaker Lawrence Kasdan is granted unparalleled access as he takes viewers on an adventure behind the curtains of Industrial Light & Magic, the special visual effects, animation, and virtual production division of Lucasfilm.

Each Wednesday, enjoy new episodes of Marvel Studios’ Ms. Marvel, leading up to the July 15 finale. Throughout the month, Disney+ will add a range of episodes and films to its library, from Mira, Royal Detective to World’s Biggest Great White? and beyond.

Getting Inventive with the Creative Team Behind Disney Junior’s Eureka!

By Andie Hagemann

“Innovative, inclusive, and enthusiastic” is how co-executive producer and story editor Erica Rothschild describes the title character of Eureka!, Disney Junior’s brand-new animated series.

Set in the fantastical prehistoric world of Rocky Falls, the series follows Eureka (voiced by Ruth Righi), a young girl inventor who is way ahead of her time. She designs inventions and contraptions in the hopes of making the world a better place and moving her prehistoric community into a more modern era. Eureka! premieres Wednesday, June 22, at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Junior. An initial batch of episodes will also premiere the same day on Disney+ and on-demand platforms.

Norton Virgien and Niamh Sharkey, who serve as co-creators and executive producers of the series, tell D23 that the immense success of Disney Junior’s Doc McStuffins (for which Virgien served as a co-executive producer and supervising director) was part of the impetus for Eureka!. “Kids who watch that show get inspired to do more than they might have thought with their lives; you can be a doctor if that’s your dream,” he says. “Niamh and I were talking about what it would look like to create a new character who is in love with science, engineering, and inventing.”

Sharkey adds, “We thought she could be the world’s first Imagineer.”

Against a pastel blue and pink background is Eureka, a young girl, standing on the right side and looking at drawings of an invention to clean her pet woolly mammoth on Disney Junior’s series Eureka!

Casting Righi in the lead role initially came at the recommendation of a friend of Rothschild’s who worked with the actress on the Disney Channel series Sydney to the Max. “I vividly remember the moment when I was sitting on the curb outside of a playdate talking to her about the show, and she told me, ‘Oh, you have to look at Ruth,’” Rothschild says. “I’m so glad that conversation happened because I can’t imagine this show without Ruth.”

Virgien and Sharkey agree that Righi embodies the spirit of her character. “You really can’t underscore enough how much a great voice actor can bring to an animated character,” says Virgien. “So many different artists work on the animation, and it is the character’s voice that ties it all together and provides its spark. Ruthie is so sophisticated with her humor, she’s energetic, and such a fabulous singer, as well.”

Righi leads an all-star voice cast that includes Renée Elise Goldsberry and Lil Rel Howery as Eureka’s parents, Roxy and Rollo, respectively, and Javier Muñoz as her teacher, Ohm. Eureka’s fearless best friend Pepper is voiced by Kai Zen, with her comedic, yet cautious pal Barry voiced by Trey Campbell. Sharkey says this group of friends is “very unexpected,” explaining, “Pepper is just out there and crazy: running, jumping, and swinging from trees. While Barry is thoughtful and a little hesitant and empathetic with all the other kids, he’s special in his own way.” She adds Righi, Zen, and Campbell worked seamlessly with one another, much like the trio they portray.

Recurring guest roles are voiced by Ellie Kemper as the school librarian, Chee; Jack McBrayer as a pet kanga bird; Ryan Michelle Bathé as Barry’s mom, Sierra; and Wendell Pierce as Barry’s father, Sandy. Then, there are some very special guest stars. From Emmy Award®-winning actress Loretta Devine and world-famous drummer Sheila E. to renowned ballet dancer and best-selling author Misty Copeland, the young and young at heart will be thrilled with the slate of superstars stopping by Rocky Falls this season. Eureka’s grandmother Wanda is voiced by Devine, while Yurt, a traveling musician, is voiced by Sheila E., and Rockanne, a dance teacher, is voiced by Copeland.

Roxy crouches to sing to Eureka in the family’s brightly-decorated kitchen in Disney Junior’s Eureka!

“For Sheila E., we had an episode about a world-famous drummer that Barry idolizes coming to town,” Rothschild says, “so we put together our dream list of who we would want, and Sheila E. was at the top.” Sheila E. was equally enthused to be a part of the show. In fact, she recorded herself drumming in character, providing a reference for animators. She also recorded herself drumming—while adapting her skills to the proper level for a young drummer—as a reference for Barry. Rothschild adds, “In addition to being amazing and throwing her heart and soul into it for the voice recording session, she dressed up as her character.”

Copeland was another guest star the creators dreamed of for the episode titled “Dance, Dance, Evolution.” The ballerina made quite an impression on the series creators. “We kept bringing the character back because she was so good,” Rothschild says of the multiple episodes Rockanne will now be featured in this season.

Roxy, Rollo, and Eureka cuddle up around the family’s pet woolly mammoth while looking up at the stars in Disney Junior’s Eureka!

In addition to its star-studded cast, Eureka! is chock-full of life lessons and super-cool gadgets that may inspire its viewers to think less conventionally and start pursuing their own inventions. Sharkey says the unique Halloween costume Eureka creates in an episode debuting later in the season is one of her favorite inventions thus far. “[Eureka] creates a ‘Spikesaurus’ costume that actually fools a real ‘Spikesaurus,’” she says. “She is able to work in [advanced] mechanics but with this prehistoric twist.”

Virgien adds Eureka! incorporates a modern and kid-centric twist to one of the most important inventions in human history: the wheel. “In Eureka’s world, the wheel is invented so the kids can go skateboarding down crazy hills,” he says.

To watch Eureka create a lava-powered pizza oven, water-powered swing, the first-ever skateboard, and so much more, tune in to the series beginning June 22!
