Howdy! In 1975, The Apple Dumpling Gang was released to theaters, taking a fictitious look at our great country’s old west in a rip-roarin’, hyde-tinglin’ funny flick. The film starred Bill Bixby and Susan Clark along with child stars Clay O’Brien, Brad Savage, and Stacy Manning as the lovable little orphans who become known as the Apple Dumpling Gang due to their favorite all-American meal of apple dumplings. The film also launched the start of a beautiful duo, the comedy team of Tim Conway and Don Knotts, who played bumbling gangsters Amos and Theodore. Stemming from a great performance in that film, they reprised their roles in the 1979 sequel, The Apple Dumpling Gang Rides Again, which was released on this day in 1979, and this time featured Amos and Theodore at the core of the main plot.
