Pinocchio Wins Two Oscars®

It makes no difference who you are, you’ve probably heard the song, “When You Wish Upon a Star,” which shined particularly brightly on this day in 1941 when it won the Academy Award® for Best Song.
In addition to Best Song, Pinocchio won the Oscar for Best Score, composed by Paul Smith and Leigh Harline. To carve out the songs, Harline teamed up with lyricist Ned Washington, who went on to have a string of popular hits such as “I’m Getting Sentimental Over You” and “Rawhide.” Some of his Disney work includes songs for Dumbo and Saludos Amigos and, of course, the lyrics to this unforgettable song, which remind us that when you wish upon a star, your dreams just may come true.
