After the runaway popularity of Touchstone’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 3 Ninjas leapt into theaters on this day in 1992, featuring human ninjas rather than those of the turtle variety. The film features three brothers trained in the ways of the ninja. Using their martial arts skills, they team up to battle a crime ring and outwit some very persistent kidnappers while kicking up laughs along the way. 3 Ninjas inspired three sequels, 3 Ninjas: Ninjas Kick Back, 3 Ninjas: Knuckle Up, and 3 Ninjas: High Noon at Mega Mountain, although the three sequels were not produced by Touchstone (appropriately they were produced by TRI-Star).
