China Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot, opened October 1, 1982. The focal point is a recreation of the Temple of Heaven in Beijing; inside one could view some of China’s unique scenery in the 360 degree motion picture presentation of Wonders of China. Many a person came out of the film presentation with a deep desire to someday see the real thing on a trip to China. An updated film, Reflections of China, debuted on May 22, 2003. The China pavilion was one of the few World Showcase lands from opening day that did not have its own restaurant, which was a little surprising because of the popularity of Chinese cuisine with Americans. The Nine Dragons Restaurant finally opened in 1985 and has succeeded in winning several restaurant awards.
