Claudine in Eddie (1996)

Walter’s very first big-screen appearance was in this Hollywood Pictures film starring Disney Legend Whoopi Goldberg! Edwina “Eddie” Franklin (Goldberg) is a New York Knicks fan who wins a contest to become the team’s assistant coach for one game. She does so well, however, that the owner of the team hires her in the actual coach’s place. Hijinks, as they so often do, ensue. Walter costars as Claudine, Eddie’s memorable friend.

For Disney fans, Walter is perhaps best known as Chessy—housekeeper for Nick Parker (Dennis Quaid) and nanny to Hallie (Linsday Lohan). She’s the one who begins to realize that “Hallie” is actually Annie (also Lohan) as the film progresses… But in the meantime, though she’s never been particularly lucky in love, Chessy meets and starts falling for Martin (Simon Kunz), the James family butler.

Walter appeared on two episodes of Sydney to the Max on Disney Channel, as Marlene—Judy’s (Caroline Rhea) boss. Walter has popped up on other Disney-related TV shows over the years, including her very own ABC series back in 1996, Life’s Work, and a notable 2019 turn on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy as Shirley Gregory, a patient with liver cancer who winds up testifying at a medical license hearing on Meredith’s (Disney Legend Ellen Pompeo) behalf.

You can catch Walter on the Emmy® Award-winning ABC series as veteran Willard R. Abbott Elementary School teacher Ms. Schemmenti. Over the years, Melissa’s used her dubious connections with Philadelphia locals (including the local fire department) to help the school. Recently, she’s moved on from teaching second grade to teaching sixth grade math… a very different experience.

All three are wearing cream-colored fancy ballroom-style outfits.

During Season 34 of the long-running ABC reality series, Walter supported her best friend (and Parent Trap) costar Hendrix—and Hendrix’s partner Alan Bersten—by not only being in the audience, but by taking to the ballroom floor herself during “Dedication Week”… the trio performed a foxtrot to “This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)” by Natalie Cole and received a total score of 30 from the judges!
