Davy tangles with Big Foot Mason when he tries to settle in Tennessee, and in winning the battle, is asked by the townsfolk to run for office. He declines until his wife’s death changes matters and he is soon elected to Congress. His homespun ways are refreshing on Capitol Hill, but Davy soon learns that he is not cut out for politics.
