Buena Vista Distribution Company Founded by Disney in 1953 to distribute its films; its first release was The Living Desert (see more detail under that entry). The headquarters were located in New York until the 1970s when they were moved to California. Irving Ludwig headed Buena Vista until his retirement, when Dick Cook took over. Later known as Buena Vista Pictures Distribution and Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
