Baskett, James (1904-1948) Actor, appeared in Song of the South as Uncle Remus and also provided the voice of Brer Fox. He received a special Academy Award in 1948 for his portrayal of the kindly storyteller, therefore becoming the first actor in a Disney film to be recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
