Animation photo transfer process A process, known as APT, which was first used at the Disney Studio during the production of The Black Cauldron, whereby photography was used in the production of cels. David Spencer of the Studio’s Still Camera Department won an Academy Award in 1986 for the development of the process. The computer, however, would soon render the APT obsolete.
