Many a celebrity has enjoyed dining at the commissary at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, including Walt Disney himself. And while the commissary interior has seen major changes over the years, it remains a comfortable place to take a break for a bite to eat. In 1979, actress Cloris Leachman made no secret that out of the six major studios, at all of which she had plied her trade, Disney’s commissary was her favorite. “Maybe I like it because the commissary has such great food,” Cloris said. “The whole studio is like a park with lots of trees and green lawns. It’s so pretty it’s almost like Disneyland.” She liked the commissary so much, in fact, that during production of The North Avenue Irregulars, Cloris, a vegetarian, took it upon herself to cook a huge pot of vegetable soup for the cast and crew in the Disney commissary.
