Grey’s Anatomy Cast on the Past, Present, and Future of the ABC Drama

By Zach Johnson

For more than 400 episodes, Grey’s Anatomy has followed the personal and professional lives of the doctors, residents, nurses, and patients at Grey + Sloan Memorial Hospital, captivating millions around the world with its curious cases, riveting romances, and more.

“I think originally the draw was that it looked like everywhere in America. It looked like a hospital,” says Chandra Wilson, who plays Dr. Miranda Bailey. “People were drawn to these characters, and the stories were universal stories. And that’s the thing that hasn’t changed.”

In the video above, stars Wilson, Camilla Luddington (Dr. Jo Wilson), and Kim Raver (Dr. Teddy Altman) look back at some of their favorite storylines from the past 20 seasons of television’s longest-running prime-time medical drama—and tease what’s coming up next.

Grey’s Anatomy premieres Thursday, September 26, at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams next day on Hulu. All 20 seasons are currently available to stream on Hulu.

Meet the Characters of Agatha All Along

By Cecilia Sarantopoulos

In Marvel Television’s series Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness returns after her on-screen debut in WandaVision—but this time, she’s dealing with a bit of a power problem. Stripped of her magical powers by the Scarlet Witch aka Wanda Maximoff, Agatha now seeks to assemble a coven for a daunting journey down The Witches’ Road. Along this path, travelers face their deepest fears, with the promise of their greatest desire awaiting those who reach the end.

Curious to know what makes Agatha and her coven tick? Read on to discover more about the spellbinding characters of Agatha All Along, which debuted on Disney+ on September 18 with a two-episode premiere and new episodes dropping weekly.

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) wears a black and white plaid shirt and has a short, blow-out hairstyle. She smirks while touching her hair with her left hand. She is at a morgue, which has metallic doors, white and green walls, and a ceiling lamp hanging behind her.

Agatha Harkness

Drawing from the Marvel Comics’ titular powerful witch, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) stands as one of Earth’s most formidable sorceresses. She’s sharp, assertive, and always ready to take charge, making her an incredible friend—or an even more terrifying enemy. Agatha All Along explores a side of her we’ve never seen before, where she faces the possibility of losing everything.

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Teen (Joe Locke) sits on a wingback chair with black and white patterns, his face registering a shocked expression. He's dressed in a gray sweater layered under a navy-black zip-up cardigan, paired with black ripped jeans and a black belt with a silver buckle. A mist creeps across the room’s floor, while the rest of the space features a warm-lit lamp, books, and curtains.

Teen

Agatha makes it clear that while joining in on her journey comes with its perks, it also means aligning yourself with someone who boasts an impressive list of enemies. The enigmatic and sharp Teen (Joe Locke) isn’t fazed by this. In fact, it’s Agatha’s formidable reputation that piques his interest, making him the perfect sidekick for this spellbinding adventure.

Rio Vidal in a scene from Agatha All Along, Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) is dressed in a dark gray suit and matching pants over a white shirt, with a police badge hanging around her neck. She stands in a morgue, with metallic cabinets visible in the background.

Rio Vidal

Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) is a force you can’t ignore. She’s the person everyone seemingly turns to in a crisis—everyone except Agatha, that is. The air practically crackles with tension when they’re in the same room, a history hinted at through loaded looks and sharp-edged banter. Just how deep their connection runs is a mystery known only to them.

Lilia Calderu In a scene from Agatha All Along, Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) wears a rose-colored wool coat, along with gold earrings and a necklace. She has a confused expression on her face. The background includes a warmly lit coffee table lamp and a wooden interior.

Lilia Calderu

A centuries-old Sicilian witch renowned for her divination skills, Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone) proves indispensable. With her steadfastness, wisdom, and resourcefulness, she adds a touch of stoic gravitas to the coven’s otherwise vibrant personalities.

Jennifer Kale in a scene from Agatha All Along, Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata) wears a rose-colored wool coat, along with gold earrings and a necklace. She has a confused expression on her face. The background includes a warmly lit coffee table lamp and a wooden interior.

Jennifer Kale

If Jennifer (Sasheer Zamata) had her way, she’d steer clear of Agatha forever. But with the tempting promise of The Witches’ Road, turning down an invitation to join the coven is easier said than done. From witchcraft to beauty hacks, she’s armed with recipes to keep the coven looking youthful forever—literally.

Alice Wu-Gulliver in a scene from Agatha All Along, Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) is speaking with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn). Alice gazes at Agatha pensively. She wears a gray T-shirt over a black long-sleeve top, her black hair featuring red highlights. Her look is completed with black eyeliner.

Alice Wu-Gulliver

Rounding out Agatha’s coven is protection witch Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn). For Alice, The Witches’ Road presents a chance to confront and make peace with her past. A trained police officer, she’s no stranger to danger, prepared to tackle threats from both the mystical realm and the real world.

Mrs. Hart in a scene from Agatha All Along, Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) is dressed in a floral flowy top, a gold necklace, and a straw hat. She looks to her left with raised eyebrows, wearing red lipstick. The background shows shelves stocked with laundry detergent and cleaning supplies.

Mrs. Hart

She has a keen eye for fine cutlery and a soft spot for tending to flowers. Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp) makes her return from WandaVision as Agatha’s warm and unintentionally hilarious neighbor. She never turns down a party invitation, no matter how strange or sinister a gathering might be.

Behind the Seams with Agatha All Along Costumer Daniel Selon

By Cecilia Sarantopoulos

What’s a coven without its Daniel Selon-curated wardrobe? Still wicked, but not quite as stylish. In Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along, with its first two episodes premiering on Disney+ on September 18, the costumes go beyond mere attire—they become an integral part of characters’ identities. Selon, who also worked on WandaVision, is one of the key creative forces returning to bring Agatha Harkness’ newest adventure to life, where the stakes are higher than ever.

“Every single costume in the show is imbued with lots of different details—things that might not necessarily be seen at first,” Selon shares during an exclusive interview with D23 at the show’s premiere at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood on Monday. “If you pause and zoom in, or watch the show again, you’ll notice something new every time. Every little piece adds to the story.”

For Selon, the design process begins with a flurry of visual ideas sparked by the script. “I’m a very visual person,” he says. “I’ll close my eyes and visualize each piece, asking myself, ‘Does this belong?’ Once I decide on an idea, I jot it down or find a reference image to capture the essence.” He’ll then pitch his ideas to creator, showrunner, director, and executive producer Jac Schaeffer and executive producer Mary Livanos—and “do it all over again.”

In a photo from the Agatha All Along premiere, costume designer Daniel Selon stands before six costumes displayed on mannequins, each labeled with the character's name. Selon is dressed in a black vest and matching pants, complemented by a black top hat. The background features a dark purple curtain and two thick branches, adding a touch of drama to the scene.

The wardrobe for Agatha All Along ranges from flowing dresses to austere blazers. Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp), for instance, is frequently seen in flowery ensembles, reflecting her warm and inviting nature. Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) is, conversely, cloaked in sharp, sophisticated silhouettes with layers, embodying her enigmatic and reserved nature. The diverting appearance of a black fedora hat and bold cat-eye sunglass nods to Agatha’s sly sense of humor, adding a dash of play to her otherwise formidable wardrobe. “Agatha loves to get down to business. She’s very ‘push up your sleeves and be on your way,’” Selon adds. “The team had to ensure her coat was practical and that her shirt could keep up with her long journey along The Witches’ Road.”

Despite her commanding presence, Agatha experiences moments of vulnerability, often soothed by Teen (Joe Locke), her teenage sidekick. “Teen’s sweater has some details that he put there. We love the story that he knit his own sweater,” Selon reveals. “With each actor, we sat down and had a discussion about how they wanted to feel and how we wanted their character to be perceived by the other characters in each scene.”

While Agatha All Along is packed with sharp dialogue and the occasional petty witch grudge, the rivalry between Agatha and Rio Vidal (Aubrey Plaza) takes center stage. Sartorially, the competition is fierce, with each outfit adding an element of intrigue—whether it’s whose suit is sharper or whose shirt is crisper. “With Rio’s mysterious aura, not giving away the details of her life or whatever’s going on or what she’s up to, [we ask] how can we support that with the costume design?” Selon adds, “The best part of my job is to get in there and give subtle hints and support or hide things.”

In a photo from the Agatha All Along premiere, costume designer Daniel Selon stands in front of a mannequin dressed in a navy blue, cinched long-sleeve coat over a white shirt. He is adjusting the coat’s left cuff to reveal a vibrant purple lining. Selon is outfitted in a black vest and a black top hat. The background showcases additional mannequins in costumes and is set against a dark purple curtain.

Witchcraft has enchanted imaginations for centuries and served as one of Selon’s primary sources of inspiration. “I went back to Norse mythology and Scandinavian witchcraft, referencing historical periods and rituals,” he says. “The Salem witch trials in Northeastern North America played a significant role in shaping the silhouettes from the show.” Selon also credits nature with influencing his work: “cats, foxes, birds, insects, snakes—all of it.”

For Marvel Comic Book fans, Selon’s right there with you. “It’s crucial for me to revisit the comics,” he says, having worked on several projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “Understanding the origins of these characters and how fans have engaged with them is essential. The wonderful thing about Agatha All Along is that we had the opportunity to expand on characters who may not have had fully fleshed-out stories in the comics and flesh out a new story.”

QUIZ: Which Disney Witch Matches Your Magical Personality?

By Cecilia Sarantopoulos

From Wanda Maximoff’s reality-bending powers to Agatha Harkness’ centuries of cunning, Disney has brought us some of the most iconic and powerful witches in history. With Agatha All Along releasing on September 18 on Disney+, it’s the perfect time to explore which Disney witch you embody.

How do you handle confrontation?

How do you feel about teamwork?

When things don’t go your way, how do you respond?

What’s your favorite magical tool?

How do you prefer to spend your free time?

If you had access to a hidden library, what would you do?

If you could choose a magical sidekick, what would it be?

What’s your ideal environment to feel at your best?

QUIZ: Which Disney Witch Matches Your Magical Personality?
Wanda Maximoff (Scarlet Witch)

In a scene from Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen), also known as the Scarlet Witch, dons a red long-sleeve suit with square cutouts at the neckline. She wears a horned headpiece that frames her face. The background is a blur of warm brown and orange tones.

You are Wanda Maximoff, the Scarlet Witch! Your powers are immense, and you’re driven by love and emotion. When those you care about are threatened, you’ll go to any lengths to protect them, even if it means reshaping reality itself.
Agatha Harkness

In a scene from Agatha All Along, Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) wears a navy blue fitted suit over a collared white shirt, and a gold pendant necklace. Her hair is in an updo, and the background features the exterior of a house and its garden.

It was Agatha all along! You’re clever, cunning, and always thinking ten steps ahead. You know that knowledge is the key to power, and you’ve spent centuries honing your craft. You love being underestimated because, in the end, you’re the one pulling all the strings.
The Evil Queen (in Witch Form)

In a scene from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), the Evil Queen (Lucille La Verne) is disguised as an old witch. She wears a black cloak and extends her right hand, which holds a crimson red apple. The background depicts a dark, wooden interior.

You’ll stop at nothing to be the fairest of them all, willing to brew potions and cast deadly spells to maintain your status. Your strength lies in your unwavering focus and your refusal to let anything stand in your way.
The Sanderson Sisters

In a scene from Hocus Pocus 2, from left to right, Mary Sanderson (Kathy Najimy), Winifred “Winnie” Sanderson (Bette Midler), and Sarah Sanderson (Sarah Jessica Parker) stand in a forest. Mary and Sarah are dressed in burgundy red gowns with lace details and cloaks, while Winnie wears a green cloak over a green and gold dress. Mary also dons a black witch’s hat. All three have expressions of confusion and shock. The background features a desolate forest with scattered dead leaves.

You’re all about fun and chaos! Like the Sanderson Sisters, you love working together with your coven to brew potions, cast spells, and cause playful trouble. Sure, you might want eternal youth, but it’s all about having a blast while you’re at it.

Inside the Galaxy-Twisting Fun of LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

By Cecilia Sarantopoulos

What happens when heroes become villains, and villains turn good? LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, debuting September 13 on Disney+, flips the script on the galaxy we know—delivering a twisted, upside-down adventure. Full of the humor, heart, and action that fans adore, this latest LEGO x Star Wars mashup is set to be a can’t-miss ride through the galaxy where nothing is quite as it seems.

“We wanted to do something special for the 25th anniversary of LEGO: Star Wars,” writer and executive producer Benji Samit shares in an exclusive interview with D23. “We decided the best way to celebrate was to recreate how kids and adults play with LEGO—we’re often not reenacting a scene or characters exactly, but dumping a big bin of pieces on the floor and just having fun mix and matching.”

A scene from LEGO Star Wars: Rebuilding the Galaxy featuring (L-R) Darth Kit Fisto, Darth Nubs, Darth Jar Jar, Darth Rose Tico, and Darth Hammerhead. Darth Jar Jar, Darth Rose Tico, and Darth Hammerhead all hold red lightsabers. The background shows a yellow-orange sky.

The show embraces this playful spirit, featuring a galaxy and characters that are hilariously mixed up. “I have a lot of favorite mixed-up characters,” says Bobby Moynihan, who voices Jedi Bob in the show. “My favorite one is Darth Maul because he’s not that different; he’s just calmer and not as mad,” he adds, laughing. “I think it’s good for him to be calm—he probably needs a couple of calm days. There doesn’t have to be vengeance every day.”

The cast and creatives are bona fide Star Wars fans: “My brother and I had bunkbeds as kids, and one day we were recreating the Mustafar fight between Obi Wan and Darth Vader,” says Tony Revolori, who voices Dev Greebling. “We raced up the bunkbed, reciting the lines, doing the moves, and everything.”

Gaten Matarazzo, who voices the nerf-herder Sig Greebling, has his own memorable moment: While watching Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back for the first time, he was blissfully unaware of the iconic twist that (spoiler alert?) Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker’s father. When the revelation hit, he dropped his toy lightsaber in shock, and it “tumbled down the stairs,” he admits.

In a scene from LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy (L-R), Sig Greebling (voiced by Gaten Matarazzo), Yesi Scala (voiced by Marsai Martin), and Jedi Bob (voiced by Bobby Moynihan) sit on chairs inside a starship. Sig appears frightened; Yesi is determined; and Jedi Bob looks vexed.

While staying true to its action-packed roots and iconic plot twists, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy introduces a slew of fresh faces and exciting storylines. “One of the more impressive characters to come out of this show is Yesi, and I’m really excited for fans to see her thrive,” adds Matarazzo. Voiced by Marsai Martin, Yesi Scala plays a crucial role in helping Sig come out of his shell and forge a stronger bond with his brother Dev. Martin explains, “I’m very excited for fans to follow Yesi’s journey in finding herself and trying to bring this new galaxy back together.”

LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy promises to captivate fans of all stripes, from casual newcomers to seasoned Star Wars enthusiasts. “Our goal was to create a story that resonated with every kind of LEGO and Star Wars fan,” writer and executive producer Dan Hernandez shares. “It was a great challenge for Benji and me to drill down into what we felt were the great tenants of telling a great Star Wars story in the LEGO galaxy.”
