3 New LEGO®️ Star Wars™ Building Sets Inspired by LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy

The galaxy is looking a little different in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, available now on Disney+. The entire LEGO Star Wars universe gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (voiced by Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact from a hidden Jedi temple. He then finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy—where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together.

Inspired by the animated “four-piece” special, the LEGO Group and Lucasfilm have collaborated on three new LEGO Star Wars building sets that are available now at LEGO.com and other major retailers.

The 76th Emmy® Awards on ABC: Everything You Need to Know

Television’s biggest night is just days away. The 76th Emmy® Awards will recognize preeminent programs, phenomenal performances, and superb storytelling across multiple platforms. So, before the Emmys air live on ABC, get all the details on this year’s ceremony.

What’s airing before the Emmys?

Disney Legend Robin Roberts will host The 76th Emmys: A Night of Firsts, airing Friday, September 13, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. A special edition of 20/20, ABC News’ primetime special will give viewers insight into the milestone moments, historic nominations, and powerful storytelling that has defined an epic year of firsts for this year’s television season. The special will feature interviews with nominees Hiroyuki Sanada (Shōgun), Lionel Boyce (The Bear), and Lily Gladstone (Under the Bridge), along with television icon Carol Burnett. Chris Connolly will interview hosts Eugene and Dan Levy, as well as Only Murders in the Building stars Disney Legend Steve Martin, Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Meryl Streep.

FXX will broadcast an edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys on Saturday, September 14, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Across two nights—Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8—The Walt Disney Company won 51 Creative Arts Emmy Awards.

Finally, Will Reeve will join Roberts on Sunday, September 15, at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT, to host ABC’s official preshow, On the Red Carpet: Live at the Emmys (streaming next day on Hulu).

When are the Emmys on TV?

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy Talk Hosting the 76th Emmy® Awards on ABC

This weekend, multitalented stars Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will host the 76th Emmy® Awards on ABC, making them the first-ever father-son duo to do the honors. The annual ceremony will air live coast to coast from the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 15, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on ABC and will stream next day on Hulu.

Eugene—a 14-time nominee and four-time winner—says it’s an “incredible honor” to host such a “major event in television” alongside his son, a six-time nominee and four-time winner. “Dan started out in television on MTV for many years; I was on SCTV,” he says. “TV really has been such a major part of our lives that just being a part of the show—being tapped as a presenter—is an honor. But [hosting] is kind of the penultimate honor for me.”

Dan adds, “It’s a huge moment in people’s lives and in people’s careers. And as a TV lover, to have been nominated—and luckily win—was a career-defining, life-changing moment.”

When a winner’s name is announced, it’s important to make the most of such a “career-defining, life-changing moment.” And luckily, both of the Levys have tips for doing just that.

“I just embarrassed myself from the beginning to the end of that entire night,” Dan says, laughing about his multiple acceptance speeches in 2020. “Not that I’ve ever watched it back, but I’ve seen some photos, and I look so thrilled. It was one of the most joyful nights of my entire life. I was most excited for everyone else winning; I was more excited about Annie [Murphy] winning [Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series] than I was about myself. We live in a culture where you always try to play it cool, but I think in a situation like this, when something happens in your career where you’re being recognized by the best of the best at the top of your industry—[you should] just feel it all and regret it later.”

Above all, “honesty” is the key to delivering a memorable acceptance speech, according to Eugene: “There are two ways to go: speaking from the heart or just being insanely funny and giving everybody a great, big laugh. Both are good ways to give an acceptance speech.”

“Now, as hosts,” Dan adds, “we recommend keeping it very short and sweet!”

Remembering Disney Legend James Earl Jones

Disney Legend James Earl Jones, the voice behind the iconic characters Darth Vader and Mufasa, passed away Monday, September 9, surrounded by family at his home in Dutchess County, New York, a rep for the actor confirmed. He was 93 years old.

“From the gentle wisdom of Mufasa to the menacing threat of Darth Vader, James Earl Jones gave voice to some of the greatest characters in cinema history,” said Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer, The Walt Disney Company. “A celebrated stage actor with nearly 200 film and television credits to his name, the stories he brought to life with a uniquely commanding presence and a true richness of spirit have left an indelible mark on generations of audiences. On behalf of all of us at Disney, we extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.”

Jones’ rich and commanding basso profundo tones helped shape perhaps the most indelible screen villain of all time, Darth Vader, in Star Wars: A New Hope (1977). He reprised his role in subsequent films in the franchise, including Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Star Wars: Return of the Jedi (1983), Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), as well as in the Disney XD animated series Star Wars Rebels (2014–2018) and Disney+ Original series Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022).

Voicing the former Jedi Knight turned cybernetically enhanced Sith Lord—who also happened to be the father of heroes Leia Organa (Disney Legend Carrie Fisher) and Luke Skywalker (Disney Legend Mark Hamill)—afforded Jones abundant career opportunities. “It brought me a lot of commercial and voiceover work,” he once said. “The voiceover work led to more opportunities for narrations and on-camera commercials, with their own milieu and craft so different from movies and theater.”

In stark contrast to his vocalization as Darth Vader, Jones also voiced Mufasa, the King of Pride Rock, in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Lion King (1994). “Doing a voice for animation is acting in its purest form,” Jones said. “It’s a bit like the ancient Greek form where the actors would wear masks. In our case, the masks are the animators’ drawings and we just simply supply all the behaviors, emotions, and feelings behind that mask.” Jones’ Mufasa would be heard again in The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride (1998) and The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar (2015), as well as the photorealistic reimagining of The Lion King (2019), directed by Disney Legend Jon Favreau.

“I initially approached my character with the utmost dignity, befitting the king of the jungle. The more I did that, however, the more we realized we were missing something. We were missing the dad,” Jones once said. “Fathers are not always grand, certainly not with their sons. When you accommodate being a father, you are often dopey and goofy. You are just Dad… In The Lion King, Mufasa urges his son, Simba, to take his place in the great circle of life—and for me, the heart of that circle is my family.”

Born in Arkabutla, Mississippi, and raised on a farm by his grandparents in Jackson, Michigan, Jones developed a stutter at a young age. One of his high school teachers helped him master it by having him recite poetry before the class—and it was there that he ultimately found his calling in performing. In 1958, following a stint in the Army after graduating from the University of Michigan, Jones took to Broadway. Two years later, he began a long association with New York City’s famed Shakespeare in the Park.

In the following years, Jones added film and television to his continuing stage work. His other Disney and 20th Century credits include Three Fugitives (1989), Gabriel’s Fire (1990–91), The Simpsons (1990, 1994, and 1998), Pros and Cons (1991–92), True Identity (1991), The Sandlot (1993), Jefferson in Paris (1995), Recess(1998), Fantasia/2000 (2000), and Earth (2009). His voice has been heard in Disney Parks around the world, including recurring vocal performances as Darth Vader in Star Tours – The Adventures Continue and as a celebrity narrator for the Candlelight Ceremony and Processional at Disneyland Park.

Respected by audiences and peers alike, the decorated actor won two Emmy® Awards, two Tony Awards®, and a Grammy® Award during his illustrious career. In 2011, he received the Academy Honorary Award “for his legacy of consistent excellence and uncommon versatility,” and in 2019, he was inducted as a Disney Legend at D23 Expo.

Embracing the Dark Magic: Inside Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along

When Kathryn Hahn was last seen as the witch Agatha Harkness in WandaVision, she was left powerless, trapped in her own mind as Wanda Maximoff stripped away her magic. But in Agatha All Along, from Marvel Television, she returns with a vengeance, ready to reclaim her powers and reveal the depths of her dark, mysterious past.

At a recent press conference for the show, which debuts with two episodes on September 18 on Disney+, the cast and creatives opened up about their experiences bringing this magical series to life. They shared insights into their characters, the intense bond between the actors, and the visceral energy on set.

Hahn described Agatha as a natural performer, full of charisma yet hiding depths of vulnerability. “The villain part is fun and almost the easiest part, because it’s her well-honed performance, and she really thinks that everyone is beneath her,” Hahn explained. Yet, the real challenge was to “allow herself even to crack the door a little to her vulnerability… Anyone could get in there now.” Head writer, director, and executive producer Jac Schaeffer spoke about Agatha’s complexities, noting, “Agatha has many different dimensions and is never about world domination… There’s always something nefarious and complex.”

Working closely with her co-stars, Hahn found herself immersed in a world that felt as real as it was magical. “Once you walked on set, we didn’t really leave for the whole day… It really felt like a coven around a cauldron… It was also so immersive as an actor that you didn’t have to shake off the outside world.”

Schaeffer also reflected on a memorable day of filming: “The day that we did Episode 2, the singing in the basement, a crew member working on sound came up to me afterward and said they’d never experienced anything like it.”

Joe Locke, who plays the mysterious Teen with layers to be unraveled, reflected on the show’s intricacies, especially in the costume design. “If you look closely at all the costumes, you’d find every twist and turn of the show in them, which I think is so clever. I think the costumes hold all the secrets of the show.” For Locke, stepping into this world at just 19 was a dream come true, as he shared, “I had the best time. It was a dream.”

Locke isn’t the only one who found magic in the show’s world. Joining Agatha’s witch coven is Lilia Calderu, played by Patti LuPone. She described Lilia as a “Sicilian witch who started out as a bathhouse singer and ended up being a tarot card reader.” LuPone’s awe for the show’s set design was unmistakable: “I’ve never seen a more beautiful set in my life. It was stunning. Just stunning.”

Aubrey Plaza, who brings to life Rio Vidal, aka the Green Witch, embraced the unpredictable nature of her role and the tumultuous relationship Rio shared with Agatha. “Expect the unexpected—you have no idea what’s going to happen with her, and there are twists and turns and all kinds of shenanigans happening.” Plaza also praised costume designer Daniel Selon’s playful energy during fittings: “Even in the fittings, we would create this environment with music, and we would mess around… He was really fun.”

The dynamics within the coven are further enriched by characters such as witch Alice Wu-Gulliver (Ali Ahn) and sorceress Jennifer Kale (Sasheer Zamata). Ahn shared how Alice has a complex emotional journey, revealing how her character’s growth is gradually unraveled. “She’s hiding that when you meet her, so she’s wearing a disguise to the world. It was interesting to play with how much you reveal and then mapping that out.” Ahn also noted the sense of camaraderie on set, saying, “A lot of our scenes are all of us together all day long with our feet in the literal dirt.”

On Jennifer’s relationship with Agatha, Zamata shared, “Agatha has a long history with a lot of witches, but they have a nice love-hate thing going on, and it makes for a very fun scene partner when we’re actually playing together.” Much like Ahn, Zamata also fondly recalled the bond formed during the intense filming process in Georgia, comparing it to “summer camp.”

That bond extended to the returning faces from WandaVision. Reprising her role from WandaVision, Debra Jo Rupp returns as Mrs. Hart/Sharon Davis. “I hope that when fans watch the show, they feel what we felt when we made it. It was a very special experience for all of us. I hope that comes through and that’s what they take away,” she said.

Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of streaming, television, and animation, highlighted the tactile realism of the show. “There wasn’t a single green screen in sight on that set… Everything you see on camera was actually there, photographed on the day. And I think you could really feel it in the performances. It feels very tactile and very real and very grounded.”

That authenticity doesn’t stop at the visuals—it’s also woven into the fabric of the show’s storytelling. Executive producer Mary Livanos explained: “It has music, but it’s not a musical; it has drama, but it’s not a drama; it has comedy, but it’s not exactly a comedy. It’s all those things.” She elaborated on the coven’s diverse nature, noting, “What I find so incredible about witches is that they can be anyone, and they can be anything. I think this coven is so wonderful because they’re all so different.”

Agatha All Along promises to be a spellbinding journey, where every cackle and costume tells a story—where magic is not just a fantasy but a palpable reality. As Hahn herself put it, “Our power is really in who we are. Our ‘witchiness’… is our special superpower.”

As Downtown Disney District evolves, an enticing lineup of shopping and dining experiences is set to elevate the magic at Disneyland Resort. These upcoming additions promise to blend style, flavor, and fandom, offering guests even more reasons to return to this ever-changing destination.

Avengers Reserve: A Super Hero Haven
This winter, Avengers Reserve, a brand-new retail destination, will open its doors, offering fans of all ages a treasure trove of collectibles, apparel, accessories, toys, and comics celebrating Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s the ultimate spot for Super Hero enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the stories and characters they love!

Welcome, Kawaii Slime! This mom-owned business will bring a playful assortment of slime concoctions in various textures, colors, and scents, offering endless fun for the young and young at heart.

Downtown Disney’s dining scene is getting two new restaurants! Michelin-starred Chef Joe Isidori will bring a full-service steakhouse with prime cuts and inventive cocktails, alongside a quick-service barbecue spot offering traditional BBQ dishes with a twist. Both venues promise to deliver culinary delights that are sure to impress.

The Carnaby Tavern: A British-Inspired Experience
Earl of Sandwich fans have more to look forward to with the upcoming Carnaby Tavern. This new table-service restaurant, designed as a nod to the swinging ’60 British pop culture, will offer a vibrant indoor/outdoor dining experience complete with a full-service bar. While construction begins on this concept, the current Earl of Sandwich location will continue to serve guests until 2025.

As the air turns crisp and the nights grow longer, a long-awaited Halloween tradition returns: Freeform’s iconic “31 Nights of Halloween.” From timeless classics like Hocus Pocus, Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, and Disney and Pixar’s Monsters, Inc., to modern favorites like Cruella, Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story of TERROR!, and the Disney+ series Goosebumps, the program offers a perfectly curated selection of eerie entertainment—all October long.

New to this year’s lineup are Arachnophobia, Hocus Pocus 2, Something Wicked This Way Comes, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Muppets From Space, and the broadcast television premiere of Haunted Mansion (2023).
