Faster than you can say Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the Disney Wonder is about to undergo a spectacular transformation. Disney Cruise Line just announced a fleet (pun intended) of new enhancements and experiences that will be unveiled on the Wonder—one of the two original Cruise Line ships—this fall.
First up is Marvel Super Hero Academy, where the Marvel universe comes to life for guests in Disney’s Oceaneer Club—a space exclusively for kids 3 to 12 years old (but adults can get a peek during the open house when boarding!). This new space, exclusive to the Wonder, will offer extraordinary adventures where each young guest can play a pivotal role. In one mission Spider-Man will help children hone their “Spidey senses” by perfecting their skills of reflex, speed, and sharp minds. They may even get to see themselves in the headlines of the Daily Bugle! Kids can also be on the lookout for some awesome Avengers equipment such as Captain America’s World War II shield, Iron Man’s helmet, Spider Man’s web shooters, and Black Widow’s gauntlets.
Also in the Oceaneer’s Club, young ones can enjoy Frozen Adventures where, on a digital screen, Olaf leads summery games with a wintery twist and a sing-a-long of “In Summer.” In another activity, kids can prepare for a royal coronation and receive an in-person visit from Anna and Elsa! Speaking of characters look for Doc McStuffins to pay a visit to Club Disney Junior to help children diagnose and treat stuffed animals, and Woody and Jesse will both pay visits to Andy’s Room for some big toy-sized fun!
Ever want to sample some of the N’awlins cuisine Tiana planned to cook up in The Princess and the Frog? Well you’re “almost there…” Also coming to the Disney Wonder is Tiana’s Place, a new restaurant in the rotational dining circuit that will transport guests to an era of southern charm and street party celebrations with a menu influenced by southern-style cuisine. The restaurant, which will feature live music and elaborate details, such as Tiana’s family photos and water lily-shaped candleholders (along with some of Tiana’s culinary awards), will make guests feel as if they are “Down in New Orleans.”
Adults will enjoy a new English Pub, which will feature dark woods, plush leather furniture, and brass accents. Guests will feel like they’re in a traditional neighborhood pub—albeit in the middle of the ocean. There will be a selection of British and specialty beers, and guests will also be able to sample a brew made especially for the pub. Disney fans will want to keep a keen eye for some enchanting “Disney details” that will be found in the artwork, props, and bits ‘n’ bobs throughout the space. Look for nods to favorites whether those tales be true, tall, or flat-out mad.
But wait, there’s more! Guests will also be able to enjoy:
- After Hours – a new adult district that includes the English pub, an all-new night club and a shiny new model of the popular Cadillac Lounge
- A reimagined and relaxing Senses Spa & Salon and a new Chill Teen Spa
- Animator’s Palate main dining restaurant updated to introduce the popular “Drawn to Magic” and “Animation Magic” dinner shows
- D Lounge for family games and entertainment
- Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique providing magical makeovers for children
- Edge club for tweens
- Cabanas casual dining location
- Palo specialty restaurant makeover with Venetian-inspired décor
- Twist ‘n’ Spout water slide provides splashtacular fun on deck
- Dory’s Reef splash zone offering fanciful water play for toddlers
- AquaLab pool and interactive water play area for kids and families
The ship undergoes dry dock September 9 through October 23 in Cadiz, Spain, and the wave of new enhancements will debut on sailing from Galveston, Texas, starting November 10!
Sea you on deck!
