Smart Guy (television) Half-hour television series, premiering on The WB Network on April 2, 1997, and ending on August 1, 1999. T.J. Henderson is a 10-year-old genius, who leaps from the fourth grade to high school, while in other respects remaining a typical kid. It is difficult for T.J.’s family, African Americans living in suburban Washington, D.C., to adjust to the need to live with and raise a child prodigy, leading to often unpredictable and hilarious situations.
