According to filmmakers, Buzz Lightyear, from the Toy Story films, had always been thought of as a character that would have originated in an epic blockbuster film; it just wasn’t until much later that Pixar decided to bring that story to the big screen. It was the first Pixar film created specifically for IMAX screens; 30 min. of footage were made in the larger IMAX aspect ratios of 1.43 and 1.90.
