Japan

Japan Pavilion in World Showcase at Epcot; opened October 1, 1982. The landscaping of Japan is one of the highlights of the pavilion. Guests can wander through pathways in some typical Japanese gardens before shopping in the gigantic, by Epcot standards, Mitsukoshi Department Store. Upstairs, guests can eat in Japanese fashion, watching the cook prepare their food right at their own table. Japan is one of only a few World Showcase countries to have a museum area, the Bijutsu-Kan Gallery, where rotating displays of rare items, such as costumes, clocks, or kites, from Japan can be shown in an attractive gallery with subdued lighting levels.
