Irish in America, The: Long Journey Home (television) Six-hour miniseries produced and directed by Thomas Lennon in collaboration with the Walt Disney Studios and WGBH Boston for PBS, aired on January 26-28, 1998. Released concurrently on video. The series chronicles the triumphant role that the Irish have played in shaping America, beginning with the potato famine and continuing to the White House. This project was close to the heart of Roy E. Disney, whose great-grandfather was one of the Irish immigrants.
