Freaky Friday (television) Two-hour television movie, a remake of the 1977 theatrical feature; aired on ABC on May 6, 1995. Thirteen-year-old Annabelle Andrews and her mother, Ellen, magically trade places on a fateful Friday the 13th, and each then experiences firsthand the day-to-day difficulties that the other goes through, creating a new sense of empathy in each case. However, because of their different perspectives, they are sometimes able to handle the other’s problems and decisions more forthrightly. Directed by Melanie Mayron. Stars Shelley Long (Ellen Andrews), Gaby Hoffman (Annabelle Andrews), Catlin Adams (Mrs. Barab), Sandra Bernhard (Frieda Debny), Eileen Brennan (Principal Handel), Alan Rosenberg (Bill Davidson). Most of the location filming for the film took place in Pasadena, California, doubling for Short Hills, New Jersey, where the story is set.
