Cooke, John Took over as president of The Disney Channel in 1985 when the channel had 1.9 million subscribers; oversaw the growth to over 8 million in less than a decade. In September 1994, he was named to head the Disney’s America project, and in January 1995 he was named executive vice president, corporate affairs for The Walt Disney Company. He left the company in 1999.
