21st Century Fox On Dec. 14, 2017, Disney announced it entered an agreement to purchase a large part of the Murdoch family’s 21st Century Fox. Included in the deal were 21st Century Fox’s film production businesses, including 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Family, and Fox Animation; Fox’s television creative units, 20th Century Fox Television, FX Productions, and Fox21; FX Networks; National Geographic Partners; Fox Networks Group International; Star India; and Fox’s interests in Hulu, Tata Sky, and Endemol Shine Group. The acquisition was completed Mar. 20, 2019, for a total equity and transaction value of approximately $71 billion. In January 2020, 20th Century Fox film studio was renamed 20th Century Studios, and Fox Searchlight Pictures was renamed Searchlight Pictures.
