Country Bear Musical Jamboree Debuts at Walt Disney World Resort

By the D23 Team

For those of us who could not bear to wait any longer, this week arrives like a refreshing mountain breeze that carries with it a rousingly familiar melody: The reimagined Country Bear Musical Jamboree will have its boot-stompin’ debut in Magic Kingdom Park this Wednesday, July 17, at Walt Disney World Resort.

Country Bear Jamboree was one of the last attractions Walt Disney personally helped develop more than 50 years ago. Its country-twang celebration, combined with the lovable bear cast, made it a must-see experience for guests. Now, after a six-month break for rehearsals and costume fittings, the bears are back with a refreshed lineup: Country Bear Musical Jamboree combines Nashville-style arrangements of Disney tunes with the furry fan-favorite cast of characters Disney fans already know and love.

In an image from Walt Disney World’s Country Bear Musical Jamboree, a plump blond bear with a sky-blue boa and a pink cowgirl hat (adorned with a few tall blue-and-purple peacock feathers) is seated on a swing made of thick and leafy vines, hanging above an unseen stage. This is the bear singer Teddi Barra, who has blue eyes and pink cheeks and wears a necklace made of emerald and onyx-colored gems. Behind Teddi is a backdrop painted deep blue with a large crescent moon on the left side.

Rootin’, Tootin’ Tunes

Country Bear Musical Jamboree features a brand-new lineup of tunes, performed in a style that pays homage to the Opry-style shows of Nashville. The new program will feature twangin’ interpretations of Disney songs performed in various genres of country music, including Americana—or a-“bear”-icana!—bluegrass, pop-country, rockabilly, and more. These fresh bear tracks include:

  • “Country Bear Musical Jamboree,” a new original song written for the attraction.
  • “Try Everything,” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia.
  • “Kiss the Girl,” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Little Mermaid.
  • “A Whole New World,” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Aladdin.
  • “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” from Walt Disney Studios’ Mary Poppins.
  • “Fixer Upper,” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen.
  • “Remember Me,” from Disney and Pixar’s Coco.
  • “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” from Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story.
  • “The Bare Necessities,” from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ The Jungle Book.
  • “Come Again,” an original song that debuted with Country Bear Jamboree in 1971.

Walt Disney Imagineering turned to popular and upcoming country music talent to provide the vocals for the new setlist. Featured artists include record-breaking 10-time CMA Musician of the Year Mac McAnally, who sings “The Bare Necessities”; country singer Emily Ann Roberts, who lends her voice to Trixie for a rendition of “Try Everything”; and singer-songwriter Allison Russel and musician Chris Thile, who voice Teddi Barra and Wendell, respectively, for “A Whole New World.”

In an image from Walt Disney World’s Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and seen standing in a row on a vaudeville-style stage, are three tan-furred bears wearing identical outfits of pink crop-top blouses, pink-and-white skirts with white belts and bejeweled buckles, white vests with big pink stars on each side, and pink ranger-style hats with white trim. These are Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah, the triplets, and they all wear blue eye shadow and pink lace scarves tied with a bow around their necks. Behind them is a video screen that appears to depict one of them in danger, hanging precariously from a thin tree that leans out over a cascading waterfall, the bottom of which is not visible.

Meet the Bears

Grizzly Hall in Frontierland is home to the zany and captivating performance that showcases the American musical heritage pioneered by Ursus H. Bear. Over the years, Ursus’ grandson, Henry, has taken over to develop a thrilling new countrified musical.

Longtime fans of Grizzly Hall know and love the kooky cast of bear characters. For those new to joining the jamboree, here is the lineup of growlin’ performers making a triumphant return to the stage in this refreshed show:

  • Ursus H. Bear: Ursus is the founder of Grizzly Hall. He invited tuneful bruins from all around to present zany vaudeville acts and live country-western and folk performances!
  • Henry: Ursus’ grandson Henry is now the master of bear-emonies. He helped develop the new show and co-wrote the opening song with the Five Bear Rugs.
  • Five Bear Rugs: The Five Bear Rugs include Zeke, Zeb, Ted, Fred, and a bear named Tennessee, who all have ol’ country rhythm in their souls.
  • Trixie: One of the most seasoned performers, Trixie has tried everything! She found her niche performing with triplets Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah.
  • Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah: Originally known as The Sun Bonnets, these lady bears traded in their bonnets for Stetsons when they began singing with Trixie worldwide, ending up here at Country Bear Musical Jamboree.
  • Teddi Barra: Grizzly Hall is proud to present The Jewel of the Dakotas, Teddi Barra. Her rise in show business was meteoric after being discovered in an ice cream parlor.
  • Wendell: Wendell was a frustrated basketball, baseball, and football player until Henry invited him to try and carry a tune. He’s been part of the Country Bears since and is thrilled to finally sing a love song with Trixie.
  • Ernest the Dude: Ernest the Dude is one of the best-dressed bears at Grizzly Hall—he brings his entire wardrobe wherever he goes!
  • Terrence, aka Shaker: Terrence, also known as Shaker, was once a famous theater star until he fell from the balcony in Romeo and Juliet. After that, he turned in his tights for a guitar and lassoed himself the limelight back onstage.
  • Romeo McGrowl: This bear, otherwise known as the Miami Serenader, is ready to enter his next era singing rockabilly!
  • Gomer: Gomer is the resident piano player who has been claws-ically trained since he was a cub.
  • Big Al: Of course, there must be mention of the infamous Big Al. He’s been playing the guitar since he was a cub because music is in this bear’s blood.

The bears all appear in new costumes, which draw inspiration from classic country-singer culture, including looks that might seem at home at The Grand Ole Opry, the famed live country-music broadcasting studio in Nashville. Guests should watch for all the Easter eggs and Nashville notes scattered throughout the attraction when they visit.

In an image from Walt Disney World’s Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and seen on a log platform atop a vaudeville-style stage, is a band made up of five bears. From left to right we see a short reddish bear playing a homemade standup bass with just one string; a huge brown bear playing a harmonica; a small black bear playing a homemade banjo; a tall thin bear whose pursed lips are blowing into a jug; and a medium-sized black bear with a tan chest and stomach seated on a box and playing a homemade fiddle. All the bears have cowboy hats on their heads except the harmonica player, whose hat sits on a wooden stool in front of him. All the bears have blue neck scarves; three of them have vests; and the harmonica player wears pants. In front of the harmonica player is an old-fashioned microphone with a sign attached to the microphone stand reading, “The 5 Bear Rugs.” A sixth bear, a pouting reddish cub, sits on the right front corner of the log platform, wearing a cowboy hat and holding a stuffed animal toy. The backdrop behind the bears depicts a forested mountain scene in cartoon style.

Guests from around the world can give these star-studded bears a standing ovation when the new Country Bear Musical Jamboree debuts July 17, 2024, at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Beyond the Isle of the Lost: Wonderland (A Descendants Novel) by Melissa de la Cruz

Filled with humor and adventure, this addition to the New York Times best-selling series explores a madcap prequel to Descendants: The Rise of Red, set in Wonderland. Check out the book trailer here.

Fall down the rabbit hole…

For Red, growing up in Wonderland has been no piece of cake (literally—dessert is outlawed). Her mom, the Queen of Hearts, rules the kingdom with an iron scepter, while Red longs for a life of her own. She’s heard rumors about an island that once housed all the villains of folklore. A place with no rules? It sounds perfect.

But then the Queen declares that Red will issue a royal decree at the annual Wonderland Tea Ceremony (aka she’ll come up with new ridiculous laws). Of course, Red loathes idea of following in her mother’s crimson-heeled footsteps. Banding together with new friends, Ace and Chester, Red plans the ultimate rebellion: a party. Little does she know that they’ll be setting off a chain of events (or un-events) that could change things forever.

Meet the Characters of Descendants: The Rise of Red

By Zach Johnson

Are you red-y for Descendants: The Rise of Red?

The fourth installment in the mega-hit Descendants franchise introduces Red (Kylie Cantrall), the rebellious daughter of the Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora), and Chloe (Malia Baker), the perfectionist daughter of Cinderella (Brandy). When the Queen of Hearts stages a coup against Auradon, Red and Chloe must put their differences aside to stop her. Get to know all the new characters (below) before the movie premieres Friday, July 12, on Disney+, followed by an encore on Friday, August 9, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel.

Red (Kylie Cantrall)
As the only person who dares refuse the Queen of Hearts’ orders, Red wants to be in charge of her own life. Using a magical pocket watch, Red is able to travel back in time.

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Chloe, played by Malia Baker, has curly blue hair and wears an all-blue ensemble.

Chloe (Malia Baker)
As Cinderella’s daughter, Chloe has big slippers—er, shoes—to fill. A straight-A student, she’s also captain of the Swords and Shields fencing team and chair of the Dragon Appreciation Club. She lives a charmed life, but it may be time for her to break a few rules.

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Uliana, played by Dara Reneé, has blue, green, and gold dreadlocks. She is wearing an ornate robe made of mixed materials in various shades of purple, blue, green, and gold.

Uliana (Dara Reneé)
Ursula’s little sister is not only a sea witch—she’s Merlin Academy’s biggest bully. As the tentacled tyrant sings in “Life Is Sweeter”: “The scariest things are scared of me.”

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Hook, played by Joshua Colley, has popped the collar of his white dress shirt. He is also wearing a red jacket and a brooch. He is raising his left hand to reveal a golden hook.

Hook (Joshua Colley)
Captain of the Seas, Hook is literally Uliana’s righthand man. Hailing from the Isle of the Lost, Hook and the other Villain Kids (VKs) are keen to make mischief at Merlin Academy.

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Ella, played by Morgan Dudley, has blue curly hair. She is wearing a denim dress, gold jewelry, and a gold belt, all of which include butterfly details, and braided bracelets.

Ella (Morgan Dudley)
Though she is often treated like dirt by her Evil Stepmother (Julee Cerda), Ella remains courageous and kind. She also knows life isn’t fair, and she isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Morgie, played by Peter Lindell, wears a green and gold shirt and a black scarf.

Morgie (Peter Lindell)
Morgie can manipulate dark magic at will—just like his mother, the enchantress Morgana le Fay. Along with the other VKs, serpentine sorcerer Morgie is part of Uliana’s motley crew.

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Bridget, played by Ruby Rose Turner, has wavy pink hair. She is wearing a pink velvet dress and a chain belt, which both feature pink hearts and flowers in their designs.

Bridget (Ruby Rose Turner)
Friendly and optimistic, Bridget knows you get more with sugar than salt. A skilled baker (feather flamingo cupcakes, anyone?), Bridget is proof that “life is sweeter when you are.”

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, Cinderella, played by Brandy, wears a blue ballgown, a diamond tiara, diamond earrings, and a diamond necklace. Her blue hair is braided into a fishtail on her left side.

Cinderella (Brandy)
Forever the belle of the ball, Cinderella is no longer in her own little corner—but she is still prone to sing “So This Is Love” with her husband, King Charming (Paolo Montalban).

In a promotional image for Disney Channel’s Descendants: The Rise of Red, the Queen of hearts, played by Rita Ora, has straight crimson hair. She is wearing a crimson tiara, crimson leather gloves, and a crimson ballgown with heart-shaped sleeves.

Queen of Hearts (Rita Ora)
With a well-earned reputation for being downright ruthless (or else it’s “off with your head!”), the domineering ruler of Wonderland believe it’s “better to be feared than loved.”

Can’t wait to meet the other new characters—from Maddox Hatter (Leonardo Nam), Principal Merlin (Jeremy Swift), and Hades (Anthony Pyatt) to Maleficent (Mars), Meadow (Sam Morelos), and Fay (Grace Narducci), just to name a few—and get reacquainted with Fairy Godmother (Melanie Paxson) and Uma (China Anne McClain)? Don’t forget to stream Descendants: The Rise of Red on Friday, July 12, only on Disney+.

In an image from Captain America: The First Avenger, Chris Evans as seen as the title character, wearing his traditional outfit and carrying his shield. He is surrounded by several other heavily fortified humans, and there is a military truck in the background.

Fourth of July Marvel Movie Marathon—FX

Celebrate Independence Day with the Avengers—both assembled and, well, independent… Our friends at FX are offering up an all-day Marvel Movie Marathon with a plethora of Avengers films, including The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 3, Captain America: The First Avenger, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Avengers, and Avengers: Age of Ultron. It all kicks off on Thursday, July 4, at 7 a.m. ET/PT. (You can also watch many of the same Marvel Cinematic Universe films, all day, every day, on Disney+!)

In an image from the Broadway production of Hamilton, filmed for streaming on Disney+, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Philippa Soo are seen as Alexander and Eliza Hamilton, respectively. They are standing together on a dark stage; Soo is singing to Miranda and holding his hand.

Hamilton—Disney+

If ever there was an entertaining way to learn about some of the founding fathers, it’s in musical-theater form (by way of rap, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and more). Take your first or 31st spin through Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi-award-winning production of Hamilton, filmed at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on Broadway in July 2016. Starring Miranda, Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Phillipa Soo, Disney Legend Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Leslie Odom Jr., and Ariana DeBose. (Plus, look for several other Hamilton-related titles on Disney+, including a sing-along version, as well as the panel discussion Hamilton: History Has its Eyes on You, led by Disney Legend Robin Roberts.)

In an image from National Geographic’s America’s National Parks, a bull elk is bugling amongst his harem during the elk rut in Grand Teton National Park. It is a sunny but cold morning, and the camera has caught the elks’ breath as they’re exhaling.

America’s National Parks—Disney+ and Hulu

In the original docuseries from 2015, National Geographic honored the 100th birthday of “America’s best idea” with episodes featuring breathtaking cinematography and experiences of eight of America’s most beloved national parks—including Yellowstone, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon—offering insightful explorations of both breathtaking landscapes and memorably majestic animals. Right here in our own backyard! Don’t forget to check out the new, more-recent seasons, on both Disney+ and Hulu, from 2022 and 2023.

In an image from season 3 of Disney+’s High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Dara Reneé as Kourtney, Frankie A. Rodriguez as Carlos, Julia Lester as Ashlyn, Sofia Wylie as Gina, and Matt Cornett as EJ are seen walking into Camp Shallow Lake for the start of their camp experience.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series Season 3—Disney+

Y’know what also says “summer” in a big way? Camp! And that’s just what happened on the third season of Disney+’s hit series High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. All our favorite East High Wildcats head to Camp Shallow Lake in California, where they and their fellow campers are primed for an unforgettable summer filled with romance, curfew-less nights, and a taste of the great outdoors. With a high-stakes production of Frozen on the horizon and a drama-filled “docu-series” being made of their rehearsal process (featuring original HSM star Corbin Bleu!), the Wildcats will attempt to show who is “best in snow” without leaving anyone out in the cold.

In an image from Summer of Soul (...Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised), Gladys Knight & the Pips are seen performing on stage during the Harlem Cultural Festival in 1969. A band made up of around 15 musicians is seen behind them, and a colorful wall is behind the entire group; the word “Festival” can be seen in large letters, in white, on said wall.

Summer of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised)—Disney+

On six Sundays from June 29 to August 24, 1969 (so that included July 4th weekend!), the Harlem Cultural Festival welcomed thousands of fans to Harlem’s Mount Morris Park (now Marcus Garvey Park) to hear a mind-bogging cavalcade of some of the era’s most iconic musical acts—including Gladys Knight & the Pips, Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, the Staples Singers, Sly and the Family Stone, and more. For a host of thought-provoking reasons, few people remembered the festival… until Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson took the helm of a 2021 documentary using uncovered and newly restored footage. Summer of Soul went on to win the Oscar® for Best Documentary Feature (among many other accolades), and now you can watch it any time you want on Disney+.

7 Billion-Dollar-Earning Animated Movies You Can Stream on Disney+

By Zach Johnson

Audiences can’t get enough of Disney and Pixar’s Inside Out 2.

On Sunday, June 30, the critically acclaimed sequel crossed the $1 billion mark at the global box office in a record 19 days. Only 11 animated films have ever reached that milestone, with Pixar Animation Studios or Walt Disney Animation Studios producing eight of those titles.

Tickets to see Inside Out 2 exclusively in theaters are available via Fandango and wherever tickets are sold. As we here at D23: The Official Disney Fan Club celebrate the film’s continued box office success, we’ve curated a list of Walt Disney Studios’ other billion-dollar-grossing animated films that fans can stream anytime, anywhere—only on Disney+!

In an image from Toy Story 3, Andy sits in the grass and holds Woody in both hands. Bonnie kneels opposite Andy, in front of the other toys he’s given to her. A cardboard box is opened behind them.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 3 (2010)

As Andy (voiced by John Morris) prepares to leave for college, his toys—including Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (voiced by Disney Legend Tim Allen), and Jessie (voiced by Joan Cusack)—wonder what will become of them. A mix-up brings them to Sunnyside Daycare,  where a room full of untamed kids can’t wait to get their sticky little fingers on these “new” toys. It’s comic pandemonium as Andy’s toys try to stay together, ensuring that “no toy gets left behind.”

In an image from Frozen, a snowman, Olaf, stands in the middle of a wintery wonderland and smiles as Anna (left) and Kristoff (right) kneel beside him. A reindeer, Sven, stands to Kristoff’s left.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen (2013)

Spirited optimist Anna (voiced by Disney Legend Kristen Bell) teams up with a rugged mountain man, Kristoff (voiced by Disney Legend Jonathan Groff), and his loyal reindeer Sven (Groff), for an epic journey that involves frosty weather, mystical trolls, and a summer-loving snowman named Olaf (voiced by Disney Legend Josh Gad). Their goal? Find Anna’s sister, Elsa (voiced by Disney Legend Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

In an image from Zootopia, the fox Nick Wilde and the bunny Judy Hopps stand in the snow in front of a chain-linked fence. Judy is pointing her carrot-shaped pen in a shocked Nick’s direction.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia (2016)

In the modern metropolis of Zootopia, animals from every environment live together in harmony. As the first bunny on the police force, Officer Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) wants to prove herself and jumps at the opportunity to crack a case—even if it means teaming up with the sly, scam artist fox Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) to solve the mystery.

In an image from Finding Dory, Marlin and Dory hug while swimming amongst dozens of sea turtles.

Disney and Pixar’s Finding Dory (2016)

Forgetful blue tang Dory (voiced by Ellen DeGeneres) is living happily in the reef with Marlin (voiced by Albert Brooks) and Nemo (voiced by Hayden Rolence)—until she remembers she has a family who may be looking for her! So, the trio takes off on a life-changing adventure across the ocean to California’s Marine Life Institute, an aquarium and rehabilitation center, to find her parents.

In an image from Incredibles 2, a frustrated Bob aka Mr. Incredible wears a plaid robe and pajamas. He is talking on the phone while holding baby Jack-Jack. They are surrounded by boxes of memorabilia.

Disney and Pixar’s Incredibles 2 (2018)

When Helen aka Elastigirl (voiced by Holly Hunter) suddenly finds herself in the spotlight, her husband, Bob aka Mr. Incredible (voiced by Craig T. Nelson), stays home with kids Violet (voiced by Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voiced by Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transition for everyone, made tougher by the fact that they are oblivious to baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. Things take a turn when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens life as they know it. But the family has never shied away from a challenge—especially with Frozone (voiced by Samuel L Jackson) by their side!

In an image from Toy Story 4, Forky (left) and Woody (right) stand next to each other in Bonnie’s room.

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 4 (2019)

Woody’s priority is taking care of his kid, whether it’s Andy or Bonnie (voiced by Madeleine McGraw). But when Bonnie creates a reluctant new toy called Forky (voiced by Tony Hale), a road trip adventure alongside old and new pals opens Woody’s eyes to just how big the world can be for a toy.

In an image from Frozen 2, Anna (left) faces Olaf (right) and holds one of his arms. They are in an ice boat.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen 2 (2019)

Venture into the unknown with Elsa as she uncovers truths about the past. The answers are calling her—but they are also threatening the kingdom of Arendelle. Together with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, Elsa embarks on a dangerous, remarkable journey of self-discovery.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Opens June 28 at Walt Disney World Resort: What You Need to Know

By Zach Johnson

As the tune goes, “grab somebody, come on down” for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a new family thrill ride celebrating the Walt Disney Animation Studios film The Princess and the Frog. Opening Friday, June 28, in Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort and later this year in Disneyland Park at Disneyland Resort, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure features dozens of Audio-Animatronics® figures, a sound-sational soundtrack (including music from the film and new compositions), and an exhilarating 50-foot drop.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is the most recent example of how Disney continues to turbocharge investment in its theme parks, leveraging its most popular stories to create unforgettable, immersive experiences for guests and offer them more of what they love.

Set a year after the events of The Princess and the Frog, the attraction gives guests a glimpse of life after Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen’s happily ever after. Now successful business owners, they want to bring their community together for a special Mardi Gras celebration. And so, during the flume-drop water ride, guests will join Tiana and her jazz-loving alligator pal Louis in search of band members to play at their neighborhood soirée.

Guests can “dig a little deeper” in the queue, which is lined with newspaper clippings that chronicle everything from Tiana’s Palace being named Best New Business to the grand opening of the employee-owned Tiana’s Foods, which offers hot sauces, spices, and other food products. All the way, a radio broadcast plays jazz music written by Grammy® winner Terence Blanchard.

“We wanted to make sure people have a good time while they’re waiting to get on the ride,” Blanchard said. “But we also wanted to represent the city so that they get a bit of a history lesson just by listening to the music as they’re waiting to go through the adventure.”

The exterior of Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World Resort.

One song features vocals by Chef Leah Chase, who actually inspired the Princess Tiana character. “Leah Chase was a dreamer and a doer—a working mom of four who followed her dream to own a restaurant,” said Carmen Smith, the executive creative producer of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. “She and her husband, Dooky, ran Dooky Chase in New Orleans, but it wasn’t just a restaurant; it was a gathering place that inspired so many… When Disney Animation visited New Orleans and sat down with Chef Chase, they knew that this American original was the perfect inspiration for Disney’s first African American princess.”

As guests move further through the queue, they will discover Princess Tiana—having combined her talents with those of the local community—revived an old salt mine and the surrounding land in order to grow an array of vegetables, herbs, and spices for her recipes.

“We’re really big on expanding Tiana’s story, and great storytelling is what Imagineering does best,” said Rebecca Clancy, Project Coordinator, Walt Disney Imagineering. “We were really excited to place it amid the backdrop of Tiana’s Foods, a new business that she’s created. In fact, you’ll even see parts of the queue that reference her entrepreneurial spirit.”

“Tiana is our inspiration because Tiana is everybody’s princess,” added Charita Carter, the executive creative producer behind Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. “Everyone can find an aspect of Tiana’s story in their own story… [because] Tiana is a dreamer and a doer.”

Guests ride a log flume in Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World Resort.

Several stars from the film reprise their roles in the attraction, including Disney Legend Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, and Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis. “It is an amazing thing to have a ride based on something you created,” Rose said. “For people to have felt that, ‘Oh, yes, we want this in perpetuity,’ it’s mind-blowing, really.”

While in the queue, guests will be immersed in the story, helping the characters find the “missing ingredient” for Tiana’s party preparations. They’ll interact with Louis and Mama Odie as they search for musicians and hear the stylings of amphibian musicians playing Afro-Cuban, Rara, and Zydeco music.

Not only will guests be delighted by the mesmerizing scenery throughout the attraction, but they will marvel at 48 new, innovative Audio-Animatronics figures of characters from the film alongside 19 new musical critters—including an otter named Timloléon, a rabbit named Gritty, a racoon named Apollo, a beaver named Byhalia, and a turtle named Rufus.

According to Ted Robledo, executive creative director of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, the critters showcase “the diverse and rich styles of New Orleans, playing their own renditions” of beloved Princess and the Frog songs such as “Almost There,” “Dig a Little Deeper,” “Down in New Orleans,” and “Gonna Take You There,” all while playing instruments made of natural materials found in the bayou. The critters also perform a song written just for the attraction, “Special Spice,” featuring the talents of Grammy winner PJ Morton, Terence Blanchard, and Rose.

The finale scene from Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World Resort

Hearing “Special Spice” performed in the attraction was “literally a dream come true,” Morton said. “It’s going to take some time for me to process this. Seeing it come full circle—because this was a two-, three-year process—and become real is totally surreal.”

“To have spent time with PJ Morton—who’s a brilliant, wonderful representation of New Orleans, a city that I love and that has been so very good to me—was beautiful,” Rose said. “It’s fun. It’s joyous. The song itself is a bop, if I may say so myself! And I think it’s going to permeate kids and adults. They will have fun with it, they will feel it, and they will leave with it—which is what you want for music. You want it to be something that moves people.”

Seeing state-of-the-art Audio-Animatronics figures perform those songs makes for an unforgettable experience. “The progress Imagineering has made is remarkable,” Clancy said. “If you look at Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in 1964, you can see how far we’ve come. It’s been spectacular to see how that team has grown and innovated in that space.”

“It took a lot of love, passion, and compassion to bring Tiana’s story to life, and we’re so incredibly proud of what we’ve come up with,” she continued. “One of my favorite parts about the attractions we build is that they are re-rideable. If you latch onto something the first time, you’ll notice something new each time you experience Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.”
