Imagine taking in a serene landscape as you relax in a rustic cabin overlooking a tranquil waterfront. Sitting by the stone fireplace, you leisurely page through a book before turning to spend quality time with friends and family, eating s’mores and sharing stories. This wilderness retreat offers the ideal place to reconnect and revel in the simple joys of nature. And the best part: you’re just around the river bend from Magic Kingdom Park. At nighttime from select spots along the waterfront, you might just catch the glowing lights of the Electrical Water Pageant on Bay Lake or views of the fireworks from Magic Kingdom Park.
Monday, July 17, marks the opening of Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, where the team can officially “welcome home” Disney Vacation Club Members and guests to the 14th Disney Vacation Club Resort.
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins offers one of the widest ranges of accommodations found at Walt Disney World Resort featuring 184 modern, nature-inspired vacation homes—including Deluxe Studios, one- and two-bedroom Villas, and three-bedroom Grand Villas—and 26 all-new luxurious waterfront Cascade Cabins. The Deluxe Studios offer room for up to four guests, while the larger one- and two-bedroom Villas and three-bedroom Grand Villas create a tranquil retreat for families of any size. Each Villa is designed with today’s families in mind, offering full kitchens, expanded storage space for belongings, and private patios or balconies with scenic views. As the newest chapter for Disney Vacation Club, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins will serve as an idyllic retreat for adventurers and Disney fans alike!
Since its opening in 1994, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge has transported guests to a different time and place. The evolution of the transcontinental railroad and grandeur of the Pacific Northwest are themes that tie together the three distinct Resorts: Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (drawing inspiration from the rustic communities along the railroad in the 1800s), Disney’s Wilderness Lodge (honoring the lodges that welcomed train travelers during the 1900s) and Copper Creek Villas & Cabins (reflecting the lifestyle of the Pacific Northwest today). As the story goes, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge was home to the early settlers heading westward on the railroad. Copper Creek Villas & Cabins is inspired by the resourcefulness of those Westerners who turned remnants of an abandoned railroad into contemporary communities.
When guests experience Copper Creek Villas & Cabins, they’ll see firsthand how railroad relics—natural resources and building materials that the early settlers used—are cleverly woven into the Resort’s modern yet cozy design.
From intricate patterns to unique building materials, the attention to detail is essential to telling the Resort’s story and creating a tranquil retreat.
And, in true Disney fashion, Walt Disney Imagineers found fun and playful ways to further evoke the spirit of America’s Great Northwest by including imaginative details that pay tribute to Disney heritage, stories and characters that reflect the region. Take a look at just some of the Disney details found throughout the Resort.
This framed totem artwork featured in the Villas is based on the actual plans that were used for the totems found in lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
As a tribute to Walt’s passion for locomotives, a “Fair Weather Route” pass for the Carolwood Pacific—Walt’s miniature backyard railroad—is displayed in the Villas.
A framed silhouette of a moose might seem like a simple nod to the wildlife found in the Great Northwest. But in this case, a careful eye will recognize the character from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film Brother Bear (2003).
As guests open a bunk-size pull-down bed in the Cascade Cabin, they’ll discover a delightful sight: an illustration of the famous Disney chipmunks, Chip and Dale.
While in the kitchen-dining area of the Cascade Cabins, guests will find artfully deconstructed railroad-logo blocks that pay tribute to two notable railways in Disney history: the miniature Carolwood Pacific Railroad that once traveled through the backyard of Walt Disney’s Holmby Hills home, and another representing the Fort Wilderness Railway, which operated at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground from 1973-1980.
Also in the Cabins, a shadowboxed necklace is reminiscent of the symbolic totem presented to Kenai in Brother Bear.
And, of course, be sure to keep an eye out for a Hidden Mickey or two at Disney’s Copper Creek Villas & Cabins. We’d tell you where they are located, but then they wouldn’t be hidden, would they?
Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge—along with the new Geyser Point Bar & Grill, the reimagined Roaring Fork quick service dining location, Salon by the Springs, and Boulder Ridge Cove Pool—offers the perfect place for Disney Vacation Club Members and guests to create memories that will last a lifetime.
Disney Vacation Club debuted in October 1991 with a flexible, point-based model, where Members are able to choose from among a variety of vacation destinations, including a stay at any Disney Vacation Club Resort or thousands of other Resort destinations around the world. And, of course, Members also have convenient access to the newest offerings across Disney Parks, from discovering Pandora – The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, to enjoying Disney Springs, a one-of-a-kind retail, dining and entertainment district in the heart of Walt Disney World Resort, to setting out on a rockin’ new adventure on Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! over at Disney California Adventure Park at Disneyland Resort.
