Club Disney A new concept in Disney themed entertainment opened on February 21, 1997, in Thousand Oaks, California, featuring a play experience for children aged four to ten and their parents. The four themed areas were called Pal Around Playground, Curiosity Castle, Starring You Studio, and The Chat Hat. Food was available in The Club Cafe, and there was a unique retail store. Birthday parties could be planned, and there were workshops on changing topics. Club Disney was the first location-based entertainment complex from the new Disney Regional Entertainment subsidiary. After five Club Disney sites were established, the clubs were all closed on November 1, 1999, when it was decided the return on investment was insufficient. See also Sunset Showcase.
