What you see is a dramatic photograph of a steel cutout of Mickey, our beloved mouse, stealing the scene from a gorgeous storm of golden electronic turbulence raging behind him. The image was captured at a steel-cutting ceremony at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, where work took place on two new Disney Cruise Line ships, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. This Mickey was among the first pieces of steel cut as part of the Art Deco-inspired scrollwork that graces the bows of both ships. The design features an intricate pattern reminiscent of the classic ocean liners of the 1930s, with added touches of Disney whimsy such as the Mickey figure seen here.
It’s all in the Disney Details.
